10 Cutest Places for Maternity Dresses

Today we’re talking all about the cutest places to shop for maternity dresses that you’ll love. This post contains affiliate links. All opinions and recommendations are my own.

Dressing for pregnancy can be a challenge, but it’s important to feel comfortable and confident in your clothes. Maternity fashion has come a long way in just the last few years, with many new brands offering stylish and fun pieces for expecting mothers. When I compare the shopping options from my first pregnancy 9 years ago and my most recent pregnancy this past year, there are SO many more options for cute maternity dresses.

In this list I’m skipping the standard maternity options. You can always check Target, Gap, Old Navy, and Motherhood Maternity. If you’re looking for something a little more unique or haven’t found anything you love at the staple brands, I’ve got you covered.

Top 10 places to buy cute maternity dresses

1. Asos Maternity

ASOS Maternity offers a wide range of maternity dresses, from casual to formal, starting at affordable prices. Their collection includes trendy styles like wrap dresses and shirt dresses, as well as classic designs like maxi dresses and bodycon dresses. Plus, they offer free shipping and returns, making it easy to try out different styles. I can always find SOMETHING on Asos maternity and their dresses manage to be on-trend and bump friendly.

2. Pink Blush

PinkBlush If you’re looking for high-quality, on-trend maternity dresses, PinkBlush is a great option. They offer a variety of styles, including floral maxi dresses, off-the-shoulder dresses, and midi dresses. Many of their dresses are made with soft, stretchy fabrics that will accommodate your growing bump throughout your pregnancy. You can usually find a discount or sale going on to get 20-40% one item.

3. H&M Mama

H&M Mama: H&M Mama is a popular choice for affordable and stylish maternity clothing. Their maternity dresses range from casual to formal and come in a variety of colors and prints. They also offer nursing dresses, which can be a great investment for postpartum. Their dress selection is more limited but I’m always super impressed with H&Ms maternity pieces, especially for the price. If their maternity swim happens to be in stock, snag one of those, too.

4. Seraphine

Seraphine: Seraphine is a higher-end maternity brand that offers elegant and sophisticated dresses for special occasions. Their collection includes cocktail dresses, evening gowns, and wedding guest dresses. While their prices are higher than some other brands, their dresses are well-made and designed to flatter a growing bump.

5. Isabella Oliver

Isabella Oliver is a high-end maternity wear brand that offers chic and timeless clothing for pregnant women. Founded in 2003, the brand was created with the goal of providing expectant mothers with stylish and comfortable clothing that could be worn throughout their pregnancy and beyond.

Isabella Oliver’s collection of dresses features classic styles, such as the little black dress, as well as more trend-forward options. The brand focuses on using high-quality fabrics, such as organic cotton and luxurious jersey, to create comfortable and durable pieces that can withstand the wear and tear of pregnancy. Everything I’ve worn from them has been incredibly comfortable – just the fabric you want on your stretching skin.

6. Legoe Heritage

Legoe Heritage is a maternity and nursing wear brand that combines comfort and style for expectant and new moms. Their collection includes versatile pieces that can be worn during pregnancy and beyond, made with high-quality and sustainable materials. Everything from their site is just gorgeous (and so well styled). If you’re looking for something chic and understated, start here.

Bonus is that most of their pieces can be worn post partum. I have a handful of pieces from them and, 8 months post partum, many of them are actually still on regular rotation.

7. Nom Maternity

Nom Maternity is a brand that focuses on comfortable and functional maternity wear for all stages of pregnancy. Their collection features simple and stylish designs that prioritize comfort without compromising on style. This is another brand where you can count on comfortable fabrics.

Angel maternity wrap dress

8. Angel Maternity

Angel Maternity is an Australian-based brand that offers affordable and trendy maternity wear. Their collection includes a variety of comfortable and fashionable clothing options for pregnant and nursing mothers. I wore one of their dresses to a beach wedding last year and loved it.

9. Loyal Hana

Loyal Hana is a maternity and nursing wear brand that combines comfort and accessibility with chic and modern design. Their collection features pieces that can be worn during pregnancy and nursing, made with eco-friendly and sustainable materials. They have a limited number of dresses but if one of them works, you’ll be able to wear it now and later.

My one word of caution is that I can’t fit in my Loyal Hana pieces at the end of my third trimester. They are great for second trimester and fourth trimester (and beyond) but they dont’ work with my basketball belly during my third trimester.

10. Soon Maternity

Soon Maternity is an Australian brand that offers stylish and comfortable maternity wear for expecting moms. Their collection features a range of clothing options for all stages of pregnancy, made with high-quality and stretchy fabrics. My all time favorite maternity dress last pregnancy was Soon Maternity (the green ribbed number) and I’ve started recently wearing it again post partum.

11. Hatch

Hatch is a maternity brand that offers chic and versatile clothing options for expecting mothers. Their collection includes timeless and comfortable pieces that can be dressed up or down for any occasion. If their prices work with your budget, there are SO many gorgeous options. Plus, most of my Hatch pieces stay in rotation after delivery.

12. Motherbee

Motherbee is a brand that offers affordable and stylish maternity clothing options for expectant moms. Their collection includes a variety of comfortable and trendy designs made with soft and stretchy fabrics. You can find a lot of their pieces on Amazon and their jersey knit fabric is super soft and comfortable. They have a great basic maxi dress they sell in a million different colors that works well for baby showers, gender reveals, and photoshoots. If you’re placing an order, also snack some of their maternity tee shirts (so comfortable!).

Tips for buying cute maternity dresses

  1. Know your size: It’s important to know your size when shopping for maternity dresses, as your body will be changing throughout your pregnancy. Most brands offer sizing guides that take into account your pre-pregnancy size and how far along you are in your pregnancy. Be sure to check the sizing guide and measure yourself to ensure a comfortable and flattering fit.
  2. Consider the occasion: When shopping for maternity dresses, consider the occasion you’ll be wearing it for. Will it be a casual outing or a formal event? This will help you narrow down your options and find the perfect dress for the occasion.
  3. Look for comfortable fabrics: Comfort is key when it comes to maternity clothing, and this is especially true for dresses. Look for dresses made with soft, stretchy fabrics that will accommodate your growing bump and allow you to move freely. The brands on this list are fabulous at using fabrics that feel good on your bump.
  4. Choose versatile pieces: When building your maternity wardrobe, it’s important to choose versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down so you can limit the number of pieces you need to buy during this short season. Look for dresses that can be worn with different accessories and shoes to create multiple outfits.

Dressing for two can be fun, promise 🙂

Shopping for maternity dresses can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With so many options available, there’s no reason why you can’t look and feel great during pregnancy. Whether you’re looking for affordable options or high-end designs, there’s a store out there for you. Just remember to prioritize comfort and versatility, and have fun experimenting with different styles.

Happy Shopping!

Maternity Dresses FAQ

Where to buy maternity dresses?

You can buy maternity dresses from a variety of stores, including maternity clothing brands, department stores, and online retailers. I share 10 great options in this post but if you want more, check out this list for 30 places to buy cute maternity clothes.

What is an A-line maternity dress?

An A-line maternity dress is a style of dress that fits closely at the top and then gradually flares out towards the hemline, creating an “A” shape. This style is a popular choice for maternity wear because it accommodates a growing belly while remaining flattering and comfortable. This is also a great one to wear after pregnancy because it doesn’t have to be a specific “maternity” dress.

Can you wear maternity dresses when not pregnant?

While maternity dresses are designed to accommodate a growing belly, they can also be worn by non-pregnant women. Keep in mind that the fit may not be ideal when you’re no longer pregnant. I have a handful of maternity dresses that I continue to wear afterwards (favorites are from Legoe Heritage and Soon Maternity).

Where to buy a maternity photoshoot dress?

Many maternity clothing brands offer dresses specifically designed for photoshoots, as well as more casual options that can also work for photo sessions. Popular retailers for maternity photoshoot dresses include PinkBlush, Seraphine, and ASOS. I have a full list of where to shop for a maternity photoshoot dress here that includes links to favorite dresses.

How are maternity dresses different?

Maternity dresses are designed to fit and flatter the growing baby bump while providing comfort and support. They are often made from stretchy and breathable materials that can accommodate a growing belly. Maternity dresses may also have features like ruching or side panels to allow for additional stretch and room. Overall, the main difference between maternity dresses and regular dresses is the design and fit, as maternity dresses are made to accommodate the changing shape of a pregnant woman’s body.

How to dress for pregnancy without maternity clothes?

If you prefer not to invest in maternity clothes, you can still dress for pregnancy by choosing stretchy and comfortable clothing items. For example, maxi dresses, flowy tops, and elastic waistbands can all work well for a growing belly. Layering can also be helpful to create different looks with the same basic pieces. I do recommend getting a few well fitting maternity basics even if you want to keep most of your wardrobe non-maternity.

How to dress maternity in winter?

When dressing for winter during pregnancy, layering is key. You can wear a basic maternity dress with leggings, boots, and a cozy sweater or cardigan. You can also add scarves, hats, and gloves for extra warmth and style.

Does Rent the Runway Have Maternity Dresses?

Yes, Rent the Runway does have a selection of maternity dresses available for rent. Rent the Runway is a popular rental service that allows you to rent designer clothing and accessories for a fraction of the retail price. Their maternity collection includes a range of dresses from formal gowns to casual maxi dresses, making it easy to find the perfect dress for any occasion.

Does Ross Dress for Less Have Maternity Clothes?

While Ross Dress for Less does offer a wide range of clothing options at discounted prices, they do not typically carry a large selection of maternity clothes. However, it’s worth checking with your local store as their inventory can vary by location. There were a few moms in my due date group who swore by Ross for great and inexpensive maternity finds.
