Chicwish Striped Sweater
I have been eying variations of this sweater over the last two years. It looks a lot like this striped one from Sezane which is, quite possibly, the perfect sweater. There was also a very similar one from Able that sold out immediately.
They were both darling but the last thing my closet really needs is ANOTHER cream or striped sweater. The price point on this Chicwish sweater is a bit better. I’m a huge fan of dresses from Chicwish but haven’t had a lot of experience with their knitwear.
I ordered the Shein version of this sweater to review last year. Shein’s $20 version is DARLING but has a rough texture that is itchy while you’re wearing it. I hardly ever reach for it.
I was hoping it would be a high quality knit that I could wear regularly with jeans.
Here’s how it stacks up:
First impressions:
It is a lot softer than I was expecting. It almost feels a bit silky? It was quite wrinkled right out of the package (and the wrinkles didn’t improve until I washed it the first time which was AFTER I shot these photos).
Fit:
This only comes in a S/M and M/L (it looks like at the time of posting only the S/M is left). I usually wear an XS or S and this sweater works really well for a slightly oversized fit. I could easily gain 20 pounds and still wear it. If you are looking for a more fitted top, skip this one.
The sleeves have a slight balloon to them as does the body of the sweater. I thought I wouldn’t love this look with a straight or wide leg pant because I usually try to balance out the wider fit on the bottom with something more fitted on the top. But, you know what, I pair these with all types of pants. Proportionally they’d be balanced out really well by skinny jeans or something more fitted through the thigh but I love them here paired with a wide leg crop.
Quality
I struggle a bit with knits but so far this one hasn’t pilled yet. I’ve worn it 8-10 times and washed it 3-4. It is not thick but is not see-through. It has a soft feel to it and is very comfortable.
Where to wear:
I am surprised by how much I wear this. I’ll wear it with loose jeans or leggings around the house for a day with my kids. I paired it with dark wash Good American jeans the other night for date night. I imagine I’ll also throw it on with shorts for dinners at the beach this summer.
Conclusion:
Cute, comfortable, timeless.
If you love the look of this but don’t want to spend $120, this is a solid choice. But it and let’s be twins.
