Are you on the hunt for a great silk blouse or pillowcase? Today we’re talking all about the silk lifestyle brand LILYSILK. I’ve been wearing and washing my LILYSILK pieces for three years now, so this review covers not just first impressions but how everything has actually held up. This post contains affiliate links.

My LILYSILK Review at a Glance

Bottom line: Yes, LILYSILK is legit, and yes, the silk is the real deal. After three years of regular wear, my blouses still drape beautifully and my pillowcase is going strong. The blouses are an investment ($100+), but they’ve outlasted cheaper satin alternatives in my closet by a mile.

  • Quality: Grade 6A mulberry silk, and you can feel the difference
  • Sizing: True to size (I wear my usual XS)
  • Best buys: Blouses, pillowcases, sleepwear
  • Skip if: You want machine-wash-and-dry easy care or sub-$50 prices (if so, I recommend Quince for their washable silk)
  • Held up after 3 years? Yes. Details on washing below, including the answer to a question a reader asked me in the comments.

Why I Ordered from LILYSILK

I had been on a mission to elevate my wardrobe. Specifically, I was looking for a few tops (blouses and sweaters) that could dress up a pair of jeans or be paired with trousers.

Top of my list was a fabulous silk button-down. I ordered this satin one from Chicwish and it was….fine. And then I started getting ads for LILYSILK (props to whoever does their marketing materials).

When LILYSILK launched their summer collection with the Amalfi stripe, I was sold. I had high hopes it would be the perfect shirt. Three years later, I can tell you whether it was.

What Is LILYSILK?

Founded in 2010, LILYSILK is a silk specialist brand known for high-quality silk bedding and clothing. They started with silk pillowcases, sheets, duvet covers, and sleepwear, and have since expanded into daywear, accessories, and even cashmere.

They use grade 6A mulberry silk, which is renowned for its softness, durability, and shine. The silk is also OEKO-TEX certified, meaning it’s been tested to be free from harmful substances and safe for sensitive skin. Their products ship worldwide, with a strong customer base in the US, UK, Australia, and Canada.

What does grade 6A mulberry silk actually mean?

Two terms matter when you’re shopping for silk:

Mulberry silk comes from silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves, which produces long, uniform fibers. Longer fibers mean a smoother, stronger, more durable fabric. It’s considered the highest quality silk you can buy.

Grade 6A is the top grade within mulberry silk, with minimal impurities in the fibers.

You’ll also see silk measured in momme (the weight of the fabric). LILYSILK’s pieces generally run from 19 to 25 momme. Higher momme means a denser, more substantial silk. For reference, a lot of cheap “silky” tops are actually polyester satin, which is why they pill, snag, and make you sweat. Real mulberry silk does none of those things.

What I Ordered

I ordered the striped blouse and some of their best-selling basics:

Packaging

Everything came wrapped in its own packaging (which would make it great for gifting). Right out of the package these shirts need a good steam (this is my favorite steamer I use on everything).

LILYSILK Quality Review

LILYSILK blouses are made from pure mulberry silk, which is considered one of the highest quality silk varieties. Mulberry silk is known for its strength and breathability in addition to being super soft.

The first thing to note is these look GORGEOUS on. The silk falls and drapes nicely and I have not gotten so many compliments on a single item of clothing in a long time.

Everything I ordered feels incredibly soft. Initially, I didn’t love the buttons on the blue and white silk shirt because they’re not a heavy weight button. I prefer the style of the white silk blouse where the buttons are concealed. But I’ve now worn the striped shirt countless times and it is fantastic. It drapes well. It feels great. It looks awesome. I got over my initial hesitation about the buttons.

Three Years Later: How LILYSILK Holds Up

This is the part most reviews can’t tell you, because most reviewers wore their pieces for a week before publishing. Here at ElisabethMcknight.com everything goes through my 100 hours guarantee, and these pieces have blown well past that mark.

The blouses: Still in regular rotation. The silk hasn’t pilled, snagged, or lost its drape. The cream blouse in particular has become one of those pieces I reach for when I need to look put together fast.

The pillowcase: I sleep on it most nights and travel with it. It’s softened slightly with washing but shows no wear.

Does LILYSILK survive the wash?

A reader asked me in the comments whether I’d washed the striped blouse, because she’d seen reports of colors bleeding. Fair question, so here’s my full washing report after three years:

I wash my LILYSILK pieces on a cold, delicate cycle. The cream blouse has been through the wash a couple of times without issues and I do dryclean it from time to time.

A few silk-washing rules I follow:

  1. Cold water only, delicate cycle or hand wash
  2. Gentle detergent made for delicates (no bleach, ever)
  3. Air dry or the lowest heat setting, out of direct sunlight
  4. Steam, don’t iron (or iron inside out on the silk setting)

LILYSILK Sizing

Overall, in my experience, the sizing is true to size. I wear an XS in most brands and the XS from LILYSILK fits well. Order your regular size. They also offer size customization on a lot of pieces (tailored lengths, even monogramming) for an extra charge, which is rare at this price point.

What I Don’t Love About LILYSILK

  • I am not a huge fan of the embroidered logo on the striped shirt. You don’t have the same dramatic logo on the basic silk tops AND the buttons are covered on the concealed placket blouse (that one is also $20 cheaper).
  • Real silk requires real care. If you want to throw everything in the dryer, this isn’t your brand.
  • The prices are an investment. Blouses run $100 to $160, depending on the style and sales.

Is LILYSILK Legit?

Yes. LILYSILK is a legitimate company that has been operating since 2010, my orders arrived as described, and the silk is genuine grade 6A mulberry silk. After three years, I can vouch for the quality.

That said, I always want to give you the full picture in these reviews. If you search LILYSILK complaints, you’ll find some customers reporting slow refunds and frustrating return experiences on sites like Trustpilot and PissedConsumer. I haven’t had to return anything myself, so I can’t speak to it firsthand, but my advice with any online silk purchase: double-check the size chart before ordering (their customization options help here), keep your order confirmation, and know the return window before you buy. The product itself has been exactly as advertised in my experience.

LILYSILK vs Quince Silk: Which Should You Buy?

This is the question I get most often, because [I own a lot of Quince silk too](LINK TO QUINCE PILLAR/SILK POST). Here’s my honest take after wearing both for years:

Buy Quince if you want washable silk basics at the lowest possible price for real mulberry silk. Quince’s washable silk is more forgiving of casual care and their blouses cost roughly half of LILYSILK’s.

Buy LILYSILK if you want a heavier, more luxurious silk and statement pieces. LILYSILK’s higher momme fabrics feel more substantial and drape more like a designer blouse. The Amalfi stripe is a piece Quince simply doesn’t make an equivalent of.

I think of it this way: Quince silk is my everyday silk, LILYSILK is my “this outfit needs to be great” silk. There’s room for both in a closet. I’ll wear my Quince silk tee shirt for a day with my kids … and I save Lilysilk for when I’m less likely to have messy toddler hands reaching for me (Here’s my full review of whether Quince is worth it if you’re deciding.)

Benefits of Sleeping on Silk

I came across the benefits of sleeping on silk a few years ago when my mom gifted me my first silk pillowcase for Christmas. I noticed how my curled hair looked so much better after sleeping on a silk pillowcase vs my regular pillowcase and wondered what the difference was. Here’s why it’s worth sleeping on a silk pillowcase:

  1. Luxurious comfort: It just feels nicer climbing into bed and laying your head down on a silk pillowcase, promise.
  2. Gentle on skin: Silk is renowned for its hypoallergenic properties, making it a great choice for those with sensitive skin. It’s less likely to cause irritation, redness, or itching.
  3. Temperature regulation: Silk is a natural temperature regulator, keeping you cool during hot summer nights and cozy during colder seasons.
  4. Hair and skin benefits: Silk creates less friction against your hair and skin, reducing frizz, tangles, and sleep creases. I travel with my own silk pillowcase because there is a visible difference in my curls when I’ve slept on silk. My hair actually looks BEST if it’s curled the day before and I’ve slept on a silk pillowcase all night.
  5. Moisture retention: Silk’s smooth surface helps prevent moisture loss from your skin and hair, leaving both looking healthier.

Best Things to Buy from LILYSILK

  • Blouses (start with the concealed placket if you want maximum versatility)
  • Silk pillowcases (the patchwork version is the budget hack, same silk, half the price)
  • Pajamas and sleepwear
  • Sheets and bedding

  1. Hello,

Have you washed it yet? I have seen in the web someone washed and the colours got mixed up.

    1. I haven’t actually washed the stripe one yet, I don’t think. I’ve washed the cream and it has been fine. I just wash on a cold, delicate cycle but I’ll wash the stripe and report back!
