Gingham Matching Set from Nom Maternity Review

Today we’re talking all about this matching maternity set from Nom Maternity. Nom is one of my favorite maternity brands. If you’re looking for places for cute maternity clothes, check out this full list.

Mini Nom Maternity Review: Gingham Shorts and Button down Set

Does maternity wear get cuter than this matching set? When I saw these pieces from NOM, it was love at first site.

I wore a maternity dress from NOM Maternity in my previous pregnancies and it was the most comfortable maternity piece I owned (see OLD pictures of it here and then again in my third pregnancy here) . I had high hopes for this set from the same brand.

Here’s how it stacks up:

First impressions:

It is just in cute in person as it is online. The material struck me as a bit thin (read: breathable) and somehow a great balance between crisp and soft.

Fit:

I ordered my regular maternity size (one size up from my regular pre-pregnancy size) and it has plenty of room for a growing bump. If you want to be able to dry this in the dryer (I generally just hang dry it but I do that with a lot of my clothes because they last longer), then size up because it will shrink. I think the top is going to be a bit short on me by the end of the third trimester but I plan on wearing the shorts all the way through.

Quality

The material on this is thin and breathable in the best way. It is a super soft bamboo and cotton blend (75% bamboo and 25% cotton).

I’ve only had and worn this set for a few weeks but other pieces from NOM have lasted me multiple pregnancies of frequent wear.

How to wear the matching set:

I love that these pieces can be worn separately or together. On our recent babymoon in Aruba I wore the pieces…

  • Together (out to breakfast) with white sneakers
  • Shorts only (over a swimsuit down to the pool but would also work all summer long with a basic white maternity tee) with flip flops
  • Blouse with white denim (out to dinner) with wedge sandals
  • As pajamas lounging around our room

I also really love that these can be worn during pregnancy and afterwards. The under the belly fit of the shorts and smocked waistline mean they’ll still be comfortable and cute after baby is born (and how fun would these be over a white swimsuit to the pool next year?).

For 6 months to a year post partum I really love having a few beautiful flowy tops I can pair with high wasited jeans. This gingham top will be nursing/pumping friendly AND be flattering post partum.

Conclusion:

I couldn’t be happier with this set unless it came in more color options so I could own more of them.

If you’re going to be pregnant through the spring / summer, move this to the top of your list. Also, NOM has a romper in the same gingham print – just saying 😉
