Boohoo Maternity Review
If you’ve been on the hunt for budget friendly maternity clothes then you’ve probably come across Boohoo Maternity.
They have a HUGE selection of very trendy maternity pieces that look great on their models. But the prices! Can they really be that cute for a fraction of the price you’d spend at other maternity stores? I ordered a few things to see.
Here’s what I ordered:
- Red maternity swim suit
- Light blue ruffle bodycon dress
- Tee shirt Smock Dress (in light pink)
- Ribbed bodycon dress in coral
I ordered everything in a 4 or a 6 (I’m a 0 or a 00 before pregnancy and wear a S in most maternity brands at this point).
I found their fitted pieces to run a little bit small. I could get away with wearing XS and S maternity pieces from other brands when I ordered these and the fitted size 6 dress was almost too small. I would size up if you want things to last for a couple of months of pregnancy.
The quality on these pieces range from fine to not very good.
When you’re ordering, pay attention to what type of fabric the item is.
Super high quality might not be important to you when picking maternity items, especially if you’re trying to save a few dollars and still get a dress you’ll feet great in for an event. I love that Boohoo gives you maternity options that don’t scream maternity and can help you feel like yourself in this transitory stage.
This might not be the best place to get the pair of maternity jeans you want to wear through your pregnancy, post partum stage, and next two pregnancies. It might be the best place to find a statement dress for an event you have coming up or pick up a few tops to cycle through for the next 4 months.
Selection / Style
This is where Boohoo really shines. Boohoo has a fantastic budget friendly selection of maternity pieces that are more fashion forward than you’ll see at Old Navy or Motherhood Maternity. You can find most current trends reflected in their maternity selection. Their online selection is reminiscent of ASOS or Topshop with lower price tags.
They show items on diverse models and have some maternity pieces that are offered up to a size 20 (3XL).
The pricing on Boohoo’s website is a little bit deceptive. They have an initial price and then a discounted price (almost everything I’ve seen is discounted). Their pricing policy states that the price reflects the current value of the item and not promotions. I think this means the original price has never been the actual price and is there to make you think you’re getting a good deal. Just don’t look at a dress that is currently $13 marked down from $60 and think you’re getting a $60 dress. It might still be what you’re looking for at $13 but it was never a $60 dress.
Best things to order on Boohoo Maternity:
Tips for finding great things on Boohoo Maternity:
- Pay attention to fabric (rayon blends aren’t going to wear as well as something that is 100% cotton).
- Invest in some maternity shapewear (a cheap bodycon dress can look fantastic if you have great maternity shapewear on under it – I’ll link my favorites below).
- Hang dry your pieces: This will help them last longer and avoid shrinking
- Be a bit wary of color. A few of the things I ordered were slightly different in person than on the website. It was fine but if I was trying to match a specific color I would have been frustrated.

Mini Boohoo Maternity Reviews
Here are a few mini reviews of specific Boohoo Maternity pieces I ordered. A lot of these are sold out at this point but I’ll note the fabric and link to them if I can.
When I opened this the color was a vibrant orange/pink, much bolder than it looked online.
This worked fine the first two times I wore it at around 25 weeks but I wish I would have sized up so I could wear it longer in pregnancy.
This is cute, comfortable, and a little thin. You definitely need a good compression slip on under this.
Drop Shoulder Smock Dress Boohoo Review
I really like this one as a great basic, casual, go-to maternity dress. It will also work really well post partum (I’ve worn it at 1 week pp already).
It can be dressed up if you need to but works just as well with sneakers or sandals.
It isn’t see through and runs true to size so order your regular dress size.
Maternity Ruffle Bodycon Dress Boohoo Review
I wanted to LOVE this dress so much but this was the lowest quality piece in my order.
With a good piece of shapewear and the right accessories, it does look great. If this is the style you want and you’re on a budget, it might work for you.
The material is not super stretchy (or very soft) but the color is a really beautiful light blue. I wore it under a trench for part of a work conference and it would be very pretty for maternity pictures or a baby shower.
It runs small so if you do decide to get it, be sure to size up one size.
My favorite thing from my Boohoo order! This maternity swimsuit is so cute and flattering for $13!
It is a fantastic bold shade of red with a flattering wrapped silhouette.
I found it to be a little bit long in the torso but that didn’t stop me from wearing it.
