Mini Chicwish Review: THE CREAM DRESS FOR PICTURES
I ordered a few pieces off of Chicwish for the first time in years last fall and this dress was, hands down, the winner.
First impressions:
Straight out of the box I wasn’t super excited about this dress because the full skirt was quite wrinkled. It also is a full length dress and I initially wasn’t certain where I’d wear it. It isn’t the kind of thing I’d wear on a regular date night. I wasn’t sure it it was too much for church. I didn’t have any specific events coming up,
My thought was something along the lines of “This could be really pretty but what was I thinking ordering this?”
Fit:
This runs tts but is forgiving and stretchy. I usually wear an XS and ordered this in an XS and it fit perfectly. I also lent it to friends who said they’re usually a S or a S/M and it looked gorgeous on them for pictures. Order your regular size but don’t stress about sizing with this one too much.
The top is knit/sweater material and the bottom skirt is made out of a different type of fabric that drapes beautifully.
Quality
I’m very happy with the quality of this piece. Its been worn and washed a handful of times after getting a lot of photoshoot wear this fall/winter with no issues. I was a bit worried about how the skirt part would dry with all of the pleats but I just washed it on a delicate cycle and then hung it dry and it looks great.
What I love:
- The texture: The knit of the top and the fabric on the bottom add depth to the dress which takes it up a notch from a basic cream maxi
- The fit: It is a little forgiving around the waistline while still being flattering. It doesn’t quite tuck in at your natural waist but that is where the fabric changes.
- The drape: The way the skirt falls / flows
- Better than basic neutral – this dress goes with just about any family outfit combination and you still get to look stunning + put-together. A GREAT choice for family photos. It would also work well for special events.
Conclusion:
If you have something coming up that you need wear a winter white dress to or you’re looking for a gorgeous neutral dress for photos, LOVE this one.
