Best Matching Family Christmas Pajamas: 25 Places to Shop (From a Mom of 4)

We have done matching Christmas pajamas since our oldest’s very first Christmas which puts us at more than a decade of matching family pajamas. My mom also used to order Hanna Andersson family pajamas from the catalog and have them shipped to us in Japan and I think there were some Wooden Solider pajamas thrown in there, too. Now I’m the one placing the order, for four kids, and I’ve learned a lot about which matching family Christmas pajamas are worth it and which ones only make it to New Year’s.
The short version: the best ones are the pajamas that survive long enough to be handed down. My oldest wore our Hanna Andersson set for his first two Christmases, his sister wore it the year after that, and then baby #3 wore the same holiday sleeper. For 8+ years I would just orderr the next size up in the kids christmas pajamas and pass everything down so I wasn’t buying a full new set each year.
Our Joy Street North Pole pajamas fit the kids two years in a row. Those two brands are the backbone of our Christmas morning, and the rest of this list is where I’d shop for everything else, from the baby to a husband who refuses to wear anything that looks like leggings.

How to Pick Matching Family Christmas Pajamas
After more than ten Christmas mornings of matching, this is the checklist I run through before I order anything.
- Start with the hardest person to fit. In our house that’s whoever is the baby that year and my husband. Find a print that comes in their sizes first, then build the rest of the order around it.
- Know why kids’ pajamas are tight. In the US, children’s sleepwear from 9 months to size 14 has to be either flame resistant or snug fitting. Cotton and bamboo pajamas are cut snug on purpose, which is why they can look like leggings.
- Size kids up one. Snug pajamas still have room to stretch, and one size up usually buys you a second Christmas. Two sizes up is usually too big (but not in Joystreet)
- Pick the fabric for your house/weather. Cotton for durability and hand-me-downs, bamboo for softness and stretch, flannel for cold mornings.
- Let the grown-ups coordinate instead of match. The kids wear the print and mom and dad pull one color from it. This photographs better than six people in the same busy pattern. We’ve done full matching moments, too but you can also usually get mom + dad solid red pajamas that are festive and easier to find.
- Order early. Popular prints sell out and there’s nothing worse than finding the perfect pajamas for everyone but they’re sold out in one size you need.
The 10 Best Places for Matching Family Christmas Pajamas
These are the brands of pajamas we own and love, plus one our friends swear by. Some of these we have in their holiday prints and some of them we’ve just worn in their regular pajamas and their 2026 holiday prints are cute enough to make the list.

Hanna Andersson
Best for: hand-me-downs and the whole family, baby to adult
Hanna is where our matching tradition started and it’s still the brand I’d choose if I could only pick one. By 2020 we’d had our family set for six years and simply added kids’ sizes as we needed them. Some of our Hanna pajamas have now been through all four kids and more than 100 washes. They look well loved by the fourth kid, but they’re still soft, which is what you’re paying for.
The two-piece long johns are the ones to buy for kids over two. They’re snug by design and forgiving on size: Rosie can sleep in a 3T, 4T or 5T. The zippered one-pieces are adorable but much more size-specific. Hanna runs 30 to 40 percent off sales regularly, and I aim to pay about $25 for a kids’ set.
One honest note for dads: Ben has Hanna’s waffle crewneck top and their regular striped pajamas, but he doesn’t love the fitted, legging-like pajama pants we originally bought him. They have a lot more full pant options for men now than they did a decade ago. You’re welcome. My full Hanna Andersson review after 11 years has more on sizing and quality.

Joy Street
Best for: classic prints that look beautiful in photos
Joy Street is our other Christmas staple. We have the North Pole print in almost every version they make: I have the women’s button-down set, we had the nightgown, the kids have the long sleeve sets, and our baby had the zippered one. They’re soft and stretchy, and we wore the same sizes two years in a row.
My favorite part is that they keep the print around. This year I can buy our oldest one size up and pass everyone else’s pieces down the line, and we still all match. Joy Street is a small Boston brand. The founder, Eliza, draws every print by hand, and the kids’ pajamas are Pima cotton made in Peru. From across the room they look like a classic pattern, and up close the kids find all the little details.

Petite Plume
Best for: a dad who won’t wear fitted pajamas
These are the classic button-down pajamas with piping that look like they came out of a storybook. Our friends rave about these and the styles are perfection.
The adult sets are cotton and cut like real pajamas, not leggings, which makes them the easiest sell for a husband like mine who prefers a relaxed plaid pant. The kids’ pajamas blend cotton with a flame-resistant fiber so they can keep that looser button-down shape.

Rylee + Cru
Best for: muted, neutral holiday prints
I just ordered our first Rylee + Cru pajamas, so think of this as a first impression that I’ll update after Christmas. Rylee + Cru is known for its softer, earthier color palette, and they now have a family pajama collection with holiday plaid and flannel prints for the whole fam. If bright red and green isn’t your look, this is where I’d start. If you’re doing family photos n pajamas, this is also where I’d start. Shop through my link and you’ll get 15% off.

Kindred Bravely
Best for: mom (coordinate, don’t match)
These are my all-time favorite pajamas, pregnant or not. I first bought Kindred Bravely’s bamboo sets when I was pregnant, and I’ve kept wearing them ever since because the fabric is that good.
If on Christmas morning you’d rather coordinate than match, you can have the kids wear the fun prints and you pull one color into a solid pair of pajamas. It looks intentional in photos and you’re comfortable all day. If you’re pregnant this Christmas, they work through the third trimester and postpartum (more in my favorite maternity pajamas).

Kyte Baby
Best for: babies and toddlers
Kyte, Posh Peanut and Little Sleepies are very similar, and all three are very soft and good quality. If I were buying for a baby, I’d start with Kyte. The bamboo is silky and stretchy without clinging, and it holds up wash after wash.
Kyte also makes it easy to get the whole family in the same print, with sizes from preemie up through youth 10 and adult sets from XS to 3XL.

Little Sleepies
Best for: kids who grow fast
I resisted the Little Sleepies hype for years, then finally bought a pair and now I get it. They’re so stretchy that they fit for a long time, and our toddler loved them as much as I did.
Their holiday prints come in sizes for babies, kids and adults, all in the same soft bamboo, so it’s an easy way to match without anyone being uncomfortable.

Posh Peanut
Best for: bold, fun prints
Posh Peanut sits right next to Kyte and Little Sleepies for us: very soft bamboo, good quality, holds up in the wash. Where it stands out is the prints. Posh Peanut goes bigger and more playful, and their holiday sets come in sizes for men, women and kids.
If your kids get a vote on this year’s pajamas, they’ll probably pick from here.

Burt’s Bees Baby
Best for: organic cotton on a budget
Burt’s Bees is a step below the bamboo brands in quality. But it’s cute, it’s organic cotton, and the price is hard to beat when you’re buying for a family of six.
Their family pajamas run from newborn through adult sizes, and prices drop a lot around Black Friday, which is the time to buy if you’re outfitting everyone.

Quince
Best for: the grown-ups, at a good price
We own Quince pajamas as everyday sleepwear, and Quince is my favorite place to find things that feel more expensive than they are. Their holiday pajama lineup is bigger than I expected this year: kids’ bamboo and organic cotton pajama sets in more than a dozen holiday prints, plus bamboo jersey sets in solid colors for women and men.
That works well with the coordinate-don’t-match approach. Put the kids in a holiday print and the grown-ups in a solid bamboo set in a matching color. Free returns for 365 days make it a low-risk order. How cute are the candy cane stripes?
15 More Places to Shop for Family Christmas Pajamas
These round out the list. Some we own as everyday pajamas, some we know from other parts of our closets, and a few are simply where I’d look for a specific need.

Tea Collection
Best for: hand-me-downs in fun prints
Tea is another good-quality brand in our house. Their soft pieces have made great hand-me-downs, and the kids love wearing them. This year I’d pick the Holiday Trees print. The penguins are just as cute, and because they read wintery instead of Christmas, they keep getting worn through January and February.

Colored Organics
Best for: babies and toddlers in muted colors
This is our youngest’s most-worn brand. Their two-piece jammie sets are organic cotton and our Peyton zipper sleeper has made it through three babies. Sizes stop at 5T/6, so this one is for the little ones. Shop through my link for a 15% off. More in my Colored Organics review.

Little English
Best for: classic New England prints
We own Little English as everyday pajamas rather than a Christmas set, and the quality has been great. Their holiday collections lean classic and coordinate with the Christmas outfits we’ve worn for church and photos. LOVE their holiday dressy options for kids, too!

The Company Store
Best for: flannel pajamas and robes for the grown-ups
I haven’t bought their pajamas yet, but we own and love The Company Store’s bathrobes and towels, so I trust their linens. It’s a good place to get adult flannel pajamas and a cozy robe for Christmas morning in one order. I was surprised by how many different prints they have (and there are options for the family dog, too).

Caden Lane
Best for: a big family matching collection
Friends have recommended Caden Lane to me more than once for matching family pajamas, and their holiday collection has sizes for babies through adults. Cute, right?

Janie and Jack
Best for: polished, classic prints
Janie and Jack is one of our favorite brands for dressing up, and their holiday pajamas have the same polished feel at Petite Plume and a better price point. They also carry newborn sizes, which helps if you have a baby in the mix.

Mini Boden
Best for: older kids who want fun prints
If Hanna is the soft, classic choice, Mini Boden is the personality pick. Their prints are bolder and a little quirky, which older kids tend to appreciate.

J.Crew and J.Crew Factory
Best for: matching mom and dad
J.Crew usually has a coordinating holiday option for both adults, and J.Crew Factory is the budget version. J.Crew also sells Joy Street and Petite Plume pajamas, so you can sometimes check out with everyone’s sets in one order. You might also find sales on J.Crew that are different from the actual brand’s site.

Lands’ End
Best for: relaxed flannel pants for dad
Lands’ End is where I’d look for the kind of pajama Ben actually wants to wear: a relaxed plaid flannel pant. Pair it with a solid top and he coordinates without the leggings. So many great flannel options for the whole fam.

Maisonette
Best for: shopping several brands at once
Maisonette carries a lot of the brands on this list, including Joy Street and Petite Plume, so it’s handy when you want to mix brands and check out once.

Gap
Best for: mid-priced family matching
Gap’s modal sleep separates have been my personal favorite for a decade, and Gap often has a family matching page with the same holiday print across kids and adults.

Old Navy
Best for: the lowest price for a big family
Old Navy is the most searched family Christmas pajama store for a reason: it’s the least expensive way to match a big family, with sizes for everyone.

Target
Best for: last-minute matching
When it’s December 20th and someone has outgrown everything, Target’s holiday family pajamas, including Burt’s Bees, are the last-minute save.

Carter’s
Best for: budget baby and kids’ pajamas
Carter’s has stepped up its prints in the last couple of years, and it’s an easy, affordable place to fill in baby and kids’ sizes.

The Children’s Place
Best for: budget kids’ sizes
The Children’s Place is another budget option with a wide range of kids’ sizes, which helps when you’re matching several ages at once.
The Best Christmas Pajamas for Everyone in the Family
Babies and toddlers
Start with Kyte Baby, Little Sleepies or Colored Organics. For babies I prefer a zippered sleeper. For anyone over two, buy the two-piece set, because it fits across more sizes.
Kids
Hanna Andersson and Joy Street are our favorites for kids because they survive hand-me-downs. Posh Peanut and Mini Boden are the fun-print picks if the kids are choosing.
Women
I wear Kindred Bravely in a solid that pulls a color from the kids’ print. If you want the full matching look, Joy Street’s women’s button-down set is my favorite.
Men
Ben’s rule is no tight pants. Give dad a relaxed plaid pant from Petite Plume, Lands’ End or The Company Store, and a solid or striped top like his Hanna waffle crewneck. He coordinates with everyone without feeling like he’s wearing leggings.
Couples
Petite Plume and Quince both make adult sets that look good as a pair, without needing a whole family of prints around them.
Pregnant moms
Kindred Bravely is the answer here. I wore their bamboo pajamas through my last pregnancy and still wear them now. Rylee + Cru is also worth a look if you want a matching print with the kids.
Cotton vs. Bamboo vs. Flannel Christmas Pajamas
We own all three, and each one fits a different family.
- Cotton (Hanna Andersson, Joy Street, Burt’s Bees, Colored Organics): the most durable and the best for hand-me-downs. Expect a snug fit on the kids, and some softening over the first few washes.
- Bamboo (Kindred Bravely, Kyte Baby, Little Sleepies, Posh Peanut): the softest and stretchiest. The stretch is why bamboo pajamas fit for so long.
- Flannel (Petite Plume, Lands’ End, The Company Store): the warmest and the most traditional looking, and the easiest way to get a looser fit for adults.
Sizing Tips and When to Buy
For kids, I size up one in Hanna and the bamboo brands. A two-piece set covers a range of sizes, so it’s the safer buy than a zippered one-piece once a child is out of the baby stage.
Buy early, especially if you have one kid in an in-between size. If you missed the window, look for brands that keep the same print year after year. Joy Street and Hanna both do this, which is how we’ve been able to buy one child a size up and pass everyone else’s pajamas down.
Sales are worth waiting for if you’re flexible on print. Hanna runs 30 to 40 percent off regularly, and Burt’s Bees drops prices around Black Friday.
How to Photograph Christmas Morning in Matching Pajamas
I’m a family photographer, and Christmas morning is one of my favorite sessions of the year, even when it’s my own family. A few things that make matching pajama photos look as good as the pajamas:
- Take the photo before the presents. Before the wrapping paper, before the toys, and before anyone’s pajamas get spilled on.
- Use window light. Turn off the overhead lights and put everyone near your biggest window. Mixing lamp light and daylight makes skin and pajama colors look off.
- Get everyone on one level. A bed, a couch or the floor by the tree works better than a row of standing kids.
- Give them something to do. A tickle, a group hug or everyone looking at the youngest gets real smiles faster than “say cheese.”
- Shoot the details. Little feet in footed pajamas and hands holding a stocking are often the frames you’ll print.
- Use a timer so you’re in it. A small tripod and a 10-second timer mean mom isn’t missing from every picture.

What We Skip
- Zippered one-pieces for kids over two. They’re cute, but they fit a much narrower size range than a two-piece set.
- Legging-style pajama pants for dad. Ben made this one clear. A relaxed plaid pant gets worn; tight pants get left in the drawer.
- Prints that don’t come in every size we need. If the baby or the oldest can’t match, we pick another print.
Which Family Christmas Pajamas Should You Buy?
- If you want pajamas to last through several kids: Hanna Andersson.
- If you want the prettiest photos: Joy Street.
- If dad won’t wear fitted pants: Petite Plume, or a Hanna top with a Lands’ End plaid pant.
- If you have a baby this year: Kyte Baby or Little Sleepies.
- If you’re pregnant or just want to be comfortable: Kindred Bravely.
- If you’re matching a big family on a budget: Burt’s Bees Baby on sale, Old Navy or Target.

Matching Family Christmas Pajamas FAQ
Most of the brands on this list release holiday pajamas in early fall, with most collections live by October. Popular prints start selling out in some sizes by November, so I order in October or early November.
Yes, especially the two-piece sets. Ours have lasted through four kids and more than 100 washes and are still soft. Buy on sale; I aim for about $25 a kids’ set.
Kids’ pajamas are cut snug on purpose to meet sleepwear safety rules, so they can feel small. I size kids up one. Adult sizing varies by brand, so check each size chart.
In the US, children’s sleepwear from 9 months to size 14 has to be either flame resistant or snug fitting. Cotton and bamboo pajamas are made snug instead of being treated with flame retardants.
A relaxed plaid flannel pant from Petite Plume, Lands’ End or The Company Store, with a solid or striped top. He coordinates with the family without wearing legging-style pants.
Burt’s Bees Baby on sale is my pick for organic cotton at a low price. Old Navy and Target are the least expensive ways to match a big family.
October or early November. If you miss it, look for brands like Hanna Andersson and Joy Street that bring the same print back, so you can fill in one size at a time.
