Best for family photos

We’re obsessed with Noralee’s dresses. These are beautifully made pieces that are stunning for any event, and I particularly love them for anything that needs to be photographed (family pictures, weddings, baptisms, holidays, birthdays).

They have some matching sibling options, and each seasonal collection is so well put together that almost anything within it coordinates. You’ll get a cohesive family look without everyone being in the exact same print, which is my favorite way to do it.

5. J.Crew and J.Crew Factory

Best for the whole family, including Dad

If you want an iconic Christmas plaid, J.Crew has you covered. They release an assortment of holiday tartans every year, and the upside is there’s usually a coordinating option for Mom and Dad. The downside is that kids’ sizes start at 2, so if you have a baby, you’re out of luck here.

J.Crew Factory carries a lot of the same look for less. One warning: the red tartan pieces at Factory were already sold out in most kids’ sizes by mid-October this year, so if you have your heart set on a specific print, buy it as soon as you see it. I’ll keep an eye out for a restock.

6. Janie and Jack

Best for dressy looks and boys’ suits

Looking for something a little more formal? Janie and Jack is one of our favorite brands for dressing up, and they always have a beautiful holiday selection. They have fantastic suit options for boys, we love their dresses for girls, and they carry newborn sizes, so the baby can match too.

7. Hanna Andersson

Best for comfortable, casual matching

If you want something as comfortable as it is cute, Hanna Andersson is the spot. Their matching outfits are perfect for family get-togethers and holiday outings where you don’t need to be as dressed up, and these are pieces your kids won’t want to take off.

Best on a budget

Gap’s kids’ clothing has impressed me the last few years. Some seasons they even have a family matching page where one print runs across every department, so you can dress the baby, the kids and both parents without trying to match colors across stores. You can find great dresses for little girls, and we like their button-downs for our boys.

Best for matching holiday sweaters

My favorite low-effort way to coordinate is the same sweater in holiday colors for everyone. Quince makes that easy without spending a fortune: festive cashmere, Fair Isle and their cotton fisherman crew all come in holiday colors. Hope & Henry has a full matching family collection with pieces for women, men, girls, boys and babies, and most of it is organic cotton at prices well below the other dressy brands on this list. It’s one of the more affordable ways to get Dad into a coordinating shirt.

Boden

Best for mommy and me knits

Boden is a great option for mommy and me knits. Their women’s line and Mini Boden share prints, and this fall the matching is all argyle and jacquard cardigans. It’s on the pricier side for adults (around $99 to $220), while the kids’ sweaters are closer to $65. There isn’t a dad option, so this one works best for coordinating rather than matching the whole family.
