What Goes Around Comes Around: My Shopping Experience
Have you heard of the luxury second-hand retailer, What Goes Around Comes Around? Maybe you have and you’re wondering if the products they sell are authentic. Today I’m sharing my personal shopping experience with my recent WGACA order. All opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.
The Handbag Hunt:
Like I mentioned in this post on handbags, I have been looking to update my handbag game a bit this year. I identified three types of bags I use regularly and was looking to update:
- First, I was on the hunt for a neutral date night bag that I could carry for dressy events when I really only needed my phone and wallet. The mini soft lady bag from Mansur Gavriel was perfect. I’ve been using it for about 6 months (purchased new via Shopbop’s storefront on Amazon).
- Next, I was looking for a mid-size purse that I would use when I didn’t need the whole diaper bag but I wanted to have a few more things than my keys and wallet. I ended up with the full-sized soft lady bag from Mansur Gavriel (purchased second-hand via The Real Real is a gorgeous deep red).
- Finally, I wanted a tote bag that could fit my laptop. A couple of times a year I travel for work and a few times a week I sneak out for an hour or two at a coffee shop, laptop in hand. Often I’d put my laptop in my diaper backpack or my very beat-up Madewell tote, neither of which was professional enough for speaking at conferences.
For this final bag purchase, I began hunting for a great tote. I wanted something that would go with everything and would last a long time. I was intrigued with the idea of certain designer pieces holding their value (or increasing their value) over time. My in-laws gifted me a small Louis Vuitton pochette a few years ago and it still looks practically brand new after daily use (thrown in a diaper bag, a pool tote, dropped on the ground – this thing comes everywhere and has been through everything).
I thought a Louis Vuitton Neverful would be perfect for a couple of reasons and began to look at options.I was pretty set on ordering second-hand because of cost, sustainability, and pressure. I love buying second-hand, almost-perfect pieces because I feel less pressure to keep them perfect and I wear/use them more often than new things. Take shoes, for example. I bought my first pair of Jimmy Choos at full price from a boutique a few years ago. I brought them out very rarely and only for special occasions. The next pair I bought was gently used from The Real Real (for 1/8th of the price) and I pull them out all the time.
I ordered from WGACA, in part, because I had an Amazon gift card that would take a chunk off the price tag. I was also a little wary of ordering something that expensive from The Real Real when their handbags are non-returnable.
Before we get into my actual shopping experience, let’s take a look at the WGACA brand as a whole:
What is “What Goes Around Comes Around?”
What Goes Around Comes Around” is a well-known luxury handbag retailer that has made a name for itself in the fashion industry. The brand specializes in offering pre-owned luxury handbags.
The uniqueness of “What Goes Around Comes Around” lies in its focus on vintage fashion. Unlike many other luxury retailers that prioritize new releases, this brand celebrates the charm of the past. Each handbag in their collection carries a sense of history and craftsmanship that is hard to find elsewhere. This means you’ll find a wide selection of unique Birkins but you might not find the newest Louis Vuitton style.
Whether you visit their physical store or explore their user-friendly website, you’ll be met with a curated selection of luxury handbags from various prestigious designer brands. Each bag undergoes thorough authentication to ensure its authenticity and quality.
One of the brand’s key strengths is its attentive and knowledgeable staff. They are always ready to assist you in finding the perfect handbag that suits your style and preferences. The store’s ambiance exudes sophistication, making the shopping experience quite pleasant.
For those who prefer online shopping, “What Goes Around Comes Around” has an easy-to-use website. They also sell a small selection of their bags through Amazon Luxury Stores.

I’m still waiting for them to add Celine to this list.
What Goes Around Comes Around Chanel Law Suit
In the world of luxury fashion, disputes over trademarks and intellectual property are not uncommon. Chanel, the iconic French fashion house, filed a lawsuit against “What Goes Around Comes Around” (WGACA) in a notable legal battle.
The crux of the issue revolved around the sale of vintage Chanel handbags by WGACA. Chanel claimed that some of the vintage handbags sold by the retailer were not authentic or genuine products. They contended that the use of their brand name and logo on these handbags without proper authorization was a violation of their intellectual property rights.
WGACA, on the other hand, maintained that they take stringent measures to authenticate all the luxury handbags they sell, including those from Chanel. They argued that their team of experts carefully inspects and verifies the authenticity of each piece before making it available to customers. Moreover, they claimed to have no intention of misrepresenting or deceiving buyers in any way.
The lawsuit garnered attention within the fashion industry and among fashion enthusiasts, sparking debates about the trade of vintage luxury goods. It raised questions about the responsibilities of retailers in ensuring the authenticity of pre-owned luxury items and the boundaries of using brand names and logos in the resale market.
As the legal battle progressed, both parties presented their arguments and evidence in court. The outcome of the lawsuit had potential implications not only for WGACA but for other retailers dealing in pre-owned luxury items.
In the end, the details of the resolution and any potential settlements between Chanel and WGACA are not disclosed to the public. However, the case served as a reminder of the importance of rigorous authentication processes and respecting intellectual property rights in the luxury fashion industry.
WGACA: My shopping experience
I looked through the WGACA site and through their listings on Amazon Luxury Store. There are definitely fewer options on the Amazon Luxury Site but they had the Neverful in the size and pattern I was looking for.
The specific bag I was looking for came up a few times in the Amazon shop at various price points. I paid a little bit more to have one with very little wear. Each bag has a unique description that details any wear that bag is showing at the time of purchase.
I also felt great knowing I had easy Amazon returns if needed AND I could use my gift card.
WGACA Shipping:
I placed my WGACA order through Amazon Luxury Stores on April 13. They immediately sent an email confirmation from Amazon that my order had been received. Delivery was estimated for April 18th or 19th. I was also notified that a signature would be required at delivery.
My package arrived on the 18th (and I signed for it). The return window was one month from delivery so I had until May 18th to decide if I wanted to keep the bag.
Packaging/ Initial Impressions
The box this bag came in is ENORMOUS.
You definitely get a luxury shopping/ shipping experience even when shopping online through WGACA.
My bag arrived inside a WGACA dust bag in addition to including the original Luis Vuitton dust bag.
The bag appeared brand new. I could find no signs of wear on the bag.
Is my WGACA purchase authentic?
I assume so. The quality seems the same as my other Louis Vuitton piece (impeccable quality). The stitching and details are immaculate.
Will I order from WGACA again?
Yes, if I decide to purchase another designer bag that they carry. I would feel comfortable purchasing from What Goes Around Comes Around again.
