Hatch Carolina Maternity Dress Review
Today we’re talking all about this red maternity dress from Hatch Maternity in this mini maternity review. This was a generous gift from Hatch (with no requirement that I blog about it). I have been spending my own money purchasing products from Hatch Maternity for the last 6 years/ 3 pregnancies. All opinions are my own.
Mini Hatch Maternity Review: Carolina Dress
Hatch has been one of my favorite maternity brands since I was pregnant with my second six years ago. I bought my first piece second hand via thredUP and haven’t actually stopped wearing it since.
When I was pregnant with my third I splurged on a few new Hatch pieces via Shopbop (LOVE their curated selection of maternity clothes).
Here are a few Hatch pieces I own and love:
- This little black dress was perfect for business conferences, date night, and a funeral I attended in my second trimester.
- This striped tee was on repeat toward the end when I was over all the fitted clothing options.
- This boatneck top is something I’ve worn post partum regularly since and I loved that it felt like 100% my style AND worked with my bump.
This pregnancy my favorite Hatch addition has been this gauzy Carolina dress.
Here’s how it stacks up:
First impressions of Hatch Maternity Dress:
It is just in cute in person as it is online. The material struck me as a bit thin (read: breathable) and somehow a great balance between crisp and soft.
Fit:
I ordered a size 1 and it works just as well now at 39.5 weeks as it did at 30 weeks. You can refer to Hatch’s size chart here but this dress works for me when I fit in size S and size M maternity clothes.
I’m 5’4″ and you can see the dress is a true midi dress, even with my 38 week bump in these photos.
There is enough material to accommodate a growing bump but I LOVE that you can still wear this dress post partum (like almost all of Hatch pieces). I plan on keeping this in my closet as a classic red dress to wear for years to come.
Hatch Maternity Quality:
The dress is 100% cotton and made out of a gauzy summery fabric. It is not at all see through.
In my experience, Hatch Maternity pieces hold up to wear regularly for multiple pregnancies and add to your wardrobe after the post partum period.
I’ve been wearing it with this cooling compression slip (and skipping a bra most of the time).
Conclusion:
If I wasn’t 39.5 weeks pregnant I would buy this in additional colors. It is SO comfortable, very chic, and doesn’t scream pregnancy. I get compliments each time I wear it (which is a lot).
This is, hands down, my most worn piece in my last month of pregnancy. I wear it with flip flops just out and about. I throw on a denim jacket and sneakers with it. I wear wedged sandals with it for nicer events. Cannot recommend it enough.
I would snag the black color and wear it through a fall pregnancy and beyond.
