HelloFresh Reviews & City Living With Kids

I’m so excited to share what has been making our life SO much easier here in Boston in this sponsored post with HelloFresh today!

So the biggest adjustment in moving to Boston has been eating.

Strap toddler #1 to my chest, coax toddler number 2 down four flights of stairs. Open door #1, open door #2, and proceed down the path. Walk across to another building. Open the door. Scan ID card. Open another door. Scan ID again and take an elevator down to the parking garage. Load both toddlers into carseats. Navigate Boston or Cambridge traffic to grocery store. Unload toddler #2. Strap toddler #1 into carrier. Walk into grocery store. Grocery shop (with two toddlers – this one should take up more space). Load all groceries and toddlers into car. Navigate traffic. Unload toddlers in parking garage. Wearing one toddler and coaxing the other, carry all groceries up through the elevator, across the path, through two sets of doors and up four flights of stairs.

And then, after all that, I still have to figure out what to make for dinner.

The last few weeks we have been loving HelloFresh for that very reason.

For nights I want to get into the kitchen and cook something fresh and delicious, without having to repeat that whole first process just to get those few things I forgot at the stores last time, I love HelloFresh.

With HelloFresh, meal planning + grocery shopping is so easy it’s nonexistent. So I thought I’d share my HelloFresh review with you all today!

First, you pick your plan on HelloFresh.com. Decide how many people you want to feed and choose between 2-4 meals per week. You can pick from their Classic Plan, Veggie Plan, and Family Plan (we’ve stuck with their Classic Plan because I love the meals so much but the Family Plan is actually a bit cheaper + supposedly has more kid-friendly classics).

Next, pick your delivery day and wait for your food. Ben brings up our box on his way home from class and we have everything we need for three delicious dinners in our fridge on Monday!

Each week they send you an email letting you know what meals you’ll be getting the following week (and they give you the option to go in and change them). You can also skip a week at anytime – we’ve been super busy the last week with events + going home to my parents that I skipped our week altogether with one or two clicks.

It is such a relief to know we have a few go-to meals in our fridge at all times and I like that I can still supplement meals throughout the week with some of our easy family favorites (like this sausage pasta or this potato corn chowder).

We actually whipped up these mushroom pork tacos when we had dinner guests on Sunday! We’ve been alternating between the four person and two person box and the four person box is perfect for us when we want to have company and I won’t want to stress about what to cook. It was ideal to have a new, delicious meal we could have fun prepping together with all the ingredients and instructions right there.

We’ve had around 10 different meals from HelloFresh so far and I have loved all of them. Some of them we’ve kept the recipe card and I’ll make them again, or at the very least pick them again when they show up as menu options in my weekly email.

I will say, will HelloFresh I still have to make dinner. Some nights when Ben is on campus and the kids are exhausted, spending 25 minutes in the kitchen chopping and cooking just isn’t going to happen. On those nights I pull out leftovers or cook some pasta and save the HelloFresh meal box for another night because the three meals are good for a week.

Have I talked you into trying it yet? If so, share your HelloFresh review in the comments below! Use code EMCKNIGHT30 to go grab your first box $30 off and then let me know what you think!

P.S. For those of you who have been asking on stories, these are our favorite HelloFresh meals so far:

  • Moo Shu Pork Tacos (I think this has been my all time favorite so far – such an unexpected flavor and the sauce! I’m still dreaming about that sauce)
  • Crispy Chicken  Parmesan Salad
  • Crantastic Turkey Burger (I was super skeptical about this because I’m not a huge cranberry fan but it was SO good!)
