A Tricky Dress + 30 week bumpdate

I got to see our little guy today and my goodness is he big! He’s already weighing in at 3.5 pounds (about a week ahead of schedule with a head that is almost two weeks ahead of schedule). He moved around for most of the ultrasound, which was no surprise and it was so fun to see how his cheeks have filled out and how his hair has started to grow!

I haven’t shared a full ‘bumpdate’ since week 25 so here’s a little update (it was fun to go through and see how my answers to these questions have changed over the past five weeks — can I really be 30 week on Saturday?!).

29.5 week bumpdate (although these pictures are from week 27:

Favorite Moments: Being able to tell where baby boy is inside me. Sometimes he’ll press an arm or a leg up against my belly and sometimes it’s something bigger. There have been a few times where I can feel him right up against me and I’ll give him a little nudge and he’ll push right back. It almost feels like we’re playing 🙂 (or maybe he’s just begging me to leave him alone, one of the two)

Another favorite from this past week was talking to Ben and realizing he was sorting all of our baby clothes by size… I really love watching him get excited about this little guy.

Eating: Plenty of soup … but that has more to do with both of us being a bit sick lately than anything else. I still love sour candies (eating sour gummy worms as I type this) but haven’t had a baked potato in a month. We’ve also gone on a bell pepper kick and I eat a red or orange one almost everyday.

Feeling: Tired and excited! I’ve been taking a few more naps recently and falling asleep a little better at night (although between Ben’s coughing and needing to reposition every hour or two, I don’t get very many consecutive hours of sleep). I’m trying out the sleep essential oil (when I remember) but I haven’t used it often enough to know if it’s working or I’m just tired.

Gender: Still very much a boy.

Names: We’ve been throwing ideas around a bit more lately and while we aren’t close to being sure about anything, I have two or three I’d be happy with which is a huge improvement.

Craving: Nothing! I was expecting to want all of these weird food combinations at all hours of the night but other than liking a few new things and not liking a few familiar things early on in pregnancy, nothing has changed other than needing quite a bit more food.

Weight Gain: About 25-30 pounds (depending on when you measure from).

Missing Anything: Sleeping through the night and being able to get in and out of a car. I’m also starting to believe in pregnancy brain – every once in awhile I struggle to find the word I’m looking for and I don’t think I can blame it on old age quite yet.

Aches or Pains: Just my back. I’m asking Ben for lower back massages on the regular and I’ve never been one who likes back massages.

Maternity Clothes: Yes, yes, yes. I’ll have a post on my favorites soon but with the exception of leggings and a few pieces from my closet that were a bit too big before, I only wear maternity clothes.

My Mood: Life is wonderful and pregnancy hormones are real. A few times this past week, amid all the excitement of big things falling into place, I found myself a little down for no reason at all. A brisk walk and cuddling (which is rather hard these days) are no fail fixes though.

Tonight after my 30 week appointment I was in tears within five minutes of coming home. There was no explanation but eating for the first time in seven hours fixed it pretty fast. My poor husband.

Exercise: I have not been doing nearly as well here as I had planned but I have been keeping up with regular leg exercises.

Excited About: Moving! I can’t wait to be in our new place and start putting together the little nursery. I packed up all our baby gifts from showers this weekend and I miss going through them and imagining baby boy in them.

If you you’re interested, you can check out my 20 week update here or my 22 week update here🙂 Your kind words here and on instagram make sharing this pregnancy so much fun…thank you, thank you, thank you!

outtakes:
^I was testing lighting – but any pregnancy updates wouldn’t be quite complete without a shoutout to this guy. I am so grateful for his support and service through this.
^And this one is blurry, but it is still one of my favorites.
