10 Outfits from 2023 to Wear in 2024
Today we’re talking all about outfits to repeat from last year, going along with #underconsumptioncore. This post contains affiliate links.
I know fall fashion and social media has you thinking you need to go out and buy an entire wardrobe.
You don’t.
The best part of this year’s trends is they’re very wearable, probably with things you already have in your closet.
Also, before you purchase anything, consider asking yourself, “Will I wear this five years from now?” If the answer is a hard no, pass. If it is a maybe, consider it (and maybe don’t splurge on that item).
2023 Outfits to Repeat in 2024:
Here are 10 outfit photos from 2023 that I have worn or plan to wear again in 2024. Maybe you have these same things in your closet? Consider this my contribution to #underconsumptioncore.
1. Long Denim Skirt + Chelsea Boots + Trench
If you jumped on the denim maxi skirt last year, you can keep it in rotation this season. Pairing it with classic pieces like this French cardigan, a Khacki trench, and suede Chelsea boots keeps it from looking like you’re trying too hard.
Outfit Details:
- Trench: The Drop by Amazon (about $100 and it is better than pieces four times the price – the drape, the fit, the length)
- Denim maxi skirt: H&M (last year, sold out)
- Cardigan: Gaspard by Sezane
- Suede Boots: Jack Rogers
- Wristlet: Louis Vuitton Pochette
2. Cashmere Cardigan + Straight leg Denim + Dark Brown Boots
Last year we saw the white tee showing up everywhere and this season you’re still safe to layer it under everything. The straight leg jean might not be the most trendy cut of denim but I’ll still be wearing these mixed in with a wider leg all fall.
Outfit details:
- Cashmere Cardigan: Jenni Kayne
- White tee: Quince ($15!)
- Denim: Agolde Riley Crop (color: Frequency)
- Boots: Thursday Boot Co
- Sunnies: Karen Walker
3. Striped Sweater + Wide Leg Crops
You can never go wrong with a classic striped sweater (this is one you can wear now, next year, and ten years from now).
These wide leg crops I bought from Walmart in January 2023 as my first foray into wider denim. They are great for the price point but once I realized how much I loved them, I upgraded to the Good American Palazzo (seen here) for an option with more stretch.
Outfit details:
- Sweater: Chicwish (very similar to the Sezane Leotine Jumper)
- Denim: Walmart (sold out from last year but I am obsessed with this similar pair I have from Good American)
4. Little Red Dress
Pull out all your red this fall and find a way to wear it. This little red dress I thrifted a decade ago and it still makes regular appearances. The silhouette might not be the most on-trend but there is always a place for flattering, well-made pieces.
Outfit Details:
- dress: Diane Von Furstenburg (10+ years old but this one is incredibly similar )
- shoes: Ralph Lauren (8 years old)
5. Sweater + Straight Leg Jeans + Loafers
Again with the layered white tee look. The straight leg denim still works this fall and loafers are always a good idea in the fall. This particular textured chocolate brown pair from Vivaia feels even more on trend this season than last year. If you’re looking for a comfortable slip-on, I LOVE these.
Outfit Details:
- Cashmere Cardigan: Quince Boyfriend Cardigan (wearing it in a dusty blue from last year but they have lots of colors this year)
- White tee: Quince ($15!)
- Denim: Good American Straight
- Shoes: Vivaia (just a few sizes left)
- White Sweater: Quince Cotton Fisherman Crewneck (best sweater you’ll buy for under $50)
- Brown Crossbody: Quince (they expanded the colors this comes in for 2024 and there are some gorgeous options!)
6. Wide Leg Lounge Set
If you invest in great loungewear, it will last season after season. Plus, you’ll be so glad you have it when you’re traveling for the holiday or have company. These are as comfortable as pajamas but are a bit more put together for cooking breakfast, late night hangs, or anything else.
This was my favorite gift last year and it is still going strong (sitting here typing in it right now actually).
Outfit details:
- Sweatshirt: Delaney Cloud Fleece Half Zip by Travis Matthew Womens
- Wide Leg pants: Travis Matthew Womens
- Sunnies: Karen Walker
7. Crewneck Sweater + Wide Leg Jeans
If you pair any classics with one trendy piece, your whole outfit feels current. I would have worn this same outfit in 2018 with skinny jeans, 2022 with straight-leg jeans, and here we go again in 2024 with a baggy wide leg.
Outfit details:
- Cashmere Crewneck: Jenni Kayne
- Belt: Able
- Denim: H&M (they restocked this year and they’re only $30)
- Mules: Jenni Kayne
8. Denim Maxi + Cardigan + Ankle Boots
Pull out all those denim skirts for fall. I love that you could swap out this skirt for a pair of jeans and I would have worn this same look 10 year sago (and hopefully 10 years from now).
Outfit details:
- Denim Maxi Skirt: H&M (this year’s version is a little shorter)
- Sweater; Sezane (this cardigan is from a few years ago – its a crochet version of the Gaspard cardigan)
- Boots: Vivaia (these are a knit material and so comfortable – I LOVE the darker chestnut color they have this year)
- Bag: Mansur Gavriel (full Soft Lady Bag review)
9. Crewneck + Trousers + Sneakers
Have you bought a pair of trousers yet? If you’re over the age of 30, please do it. Go for a pair that is more comfortable than your favorite pair of jeans (like these ones).
I wore this outfit at a conference back in January 2023 and it was a little out of my comfort zone. A sneaker with a trouser? Here we are 18 months later and it has aged well.
Outfit details:
- Sweater: Amazon (mostly sold out – I’d go with the Quince Cotton Fisherman Crewneck if you’re trying to recreate this look)
- Belt: J.Crew Factory
- Trousers: Cider
- Sneakers: Everlane Court Sneakers
- Bag: Mansur Gavriel
10. Slip Dress + Square Toe Maryjanes
The slip dresses and skirts are here again in a big way for 2024. Dress it up, dress it down – just as long as you wear it.
Oufit details:
- Slip Dress: Graylin
- Cropped Sweater: An old maternity piece
- Maryjane Flats: Vivaia (these also come in red!)
- Bag: Mini Soft Lady Bag by Mansur Gavriel
