1 Minute Changes to Make in 2017
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Evolution Fresh® for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
How are you doing on those New Years resolutions? Falling behind? Given up already? Now that we’re almost through January and the huge push to make all the big changes, I wanted to share seven simple commitments you could make that will take less than one minute. These changes pack a big punch and if you’re consistent, can have a big impact on the rest of your year!
Take the Stairs
Any additional movement is going to be good for you but instead of making huge changes, liking joining a gym you’ll stop going to come February, start by finding small ways to add exercise and movement into your day. I like to replace elevators with stairs and do squats while I’m brushing my teeth. These easy changes are ones you can keep up with and over the course of a year, add up to A LOT more exercise.
Ditch the Negative
Decide to only saying positive things for the first few hours of each day. When someone asks how your commute was, refrain from giving them the thirty second run down of the drivers that cut you off. When the person in front of you complains about the line, comment on how beautiful the weather is. You don’t have to commit to being positive all day long, but being conscious of negativity in your life is the first step to eliminating it.
Stop Dieting
Instead of cutting out things things this year (especially all those things that you really enjoy!), add something to your diet instead. Commit to eating something green or drinking one cold-pressed juice each day. Look for juices that use high-pressure processing so they retain more nutrients and consider a subscription that delivers them every week so you have no excuses.
Write a handwritten note each month
In this technology saturated world, we miss the art of the personal. Whether it’s a thank you note or a card just to say hi, decide to send one every month. I like to have stamps, envelopes, and cute little cards all sitting in one place within easy reach of my desk. I also love using postable.com as on online address book. After I’ve collected all my addresses for Christmas cards in December, it’s easy to find loved one’s addresses throughout the rest of the year. Not excited about sending handwritten notes or know it isn’t going to happen? Commit to giving one genuine compliment to someone each day. The act of brightening someone’s day will make your own better and the habit of finding the good in others can have a big impact on your outlook.
Sign up for a class
I know, I know, the actual class will take a lot longer than a minute but by signing up and paying before hand, you commit yourself to actually doing it. Learning a new skill or furthering one you have is a great way to feel productive and accomplished and combat negativity. Plus, learning new skills keeps your brain sharp!
End your day with Gratitude
Regardless of what happened that day, list three things your thankful for before you fall asleep each night. Whether it’s in a journal by your bed or just in your head, the act of gratitude comes with a whole host of benefits including improved physical health, higher self esteem, and more restful sleep.
Just do it
When you’re around the house and are faced with a task that will take less than one or two minutes to complete, do it immediately. Instead of dropping your coat and purse on the chair when you come in, put them away. Instead of leaving the dishes in the sink, give them a quick rinse and put them straight into the dishwasher. You’ll be amazed at how much tidier things stay and how much mental freedom you have from no longer having to try and remember all the things you were planning on getting to later.Â
^Did you know today is National Green Juice Day? Have you tried green juice yet? I’ve been trying to add more of it to my diet because I’m not so good at getting the two pounds of raw vegetables I’m supposed to eat every day. Evolution Fresh® is a super-premium juice you can pick up at your local grocery store and select Starbucks. Each bottle of green juice has over a full serving of veggies (Smooth Greens & Kale is a medley of go-to greens with a splash of tropical sweetness and a smooth minty finish). If you’re looking to add more veggies to your diet, depending on your area you can sign up for a regular (free) delivery from Postmates.
