Best DIY Face Mask Ideas
This post was sponsored by MyMasq as part of an Influencer Activation and all opinions expressed in my post are my own. Today we’re talking all about the newest face mask you can tailor to fit all of your skincare needs! Plus, it makes a pretty good girl’s night, mom-date, or a self-care evening in.
While I was prepping for this move from New England to California, I went through all of my skincare products to decide what to keep, what to convince my mom to use, and what wasn’t worth hauling 3,000 miles across the country. 2020 was CLEARLY my year of skincare.
SO MANY PRODUCTS.
Cleansers, serums, lotions, masks, you name it, it was there. With nowhere to really wear makeup, it was a great time to get serious about skincare.
I’ve shared about my 2020 skincare findings on the blog, but today I want to talk all about a new-to-me product, MyMasq.
I love to unwind with a warm bath before bed, listening to an audiobook. Sometimes I’ll light a candle or add bath salts to the tub. Sometimes I’ll put on a show. It only happens about once a week but it is one of my favorite quiet, slow nights of the week.
I’ve been adding in face masks to my baths since I was pregnant with Westley because it’s the perfect time to soak for 10-30 minutes without having to do anything else. Plus, I love the way my skin feels when I wake up in the morning.
Have you wanted to use face masks but didn’t know which one to get? Do you sometimes need something for dryness and other nights need something for wrinkles or dark spots? Not ready to commit to a whole bottle of product for one thing?
What I love about MyMasq is you get to customize and tailor your at-home DIY mask for whatever you need. This DIY facial treatment is made and used instantly, so it doesn’t need any preservatives (which means no preservatives being absorbed into your skin!).
Here’s how you use MyMasq:
- Order MyMasq from MyMasq.com.
- Break one of the ampules into a small bowl.
- Add one scoop of water (the tiny little scoop comes with your mask pack).
- Add one scoop of your preferred mix in. We tried honey and cucumber juice but you can use so many different things depending on what your skin needs that day. I’ll include a list below.
- Leave on for at least 15 minutes before washing off.
- Enjoy your glowing skin!
The kids and I tried MyMasq together in the new house and we had fun picking our own mix-ins. I felt comfortable letting Lincoln and Adelaide both use them because they’re preservative-free and they loved getting to choose what they mixed in – they picked honey ;).
Here are a few other mix-ins I’ve tried or are on my list, as well as what they’re used for:
- Cucumber juice: for hydration
- Egg whites: tighter skin (can I handle egg whites? We’ll see)
- Lemon: brighter skin
- Apple juice: appearance of wrinkles
- Aloe vera: dryness or redness
I also really want to try mixing in a bit of cocoa powder (antioxidants) or tumeric (to help fight acne). I love how there are tons of possibilities with these masks and you get to be creative. The perfect balance for me between buying a great product and making my own at home 🙂
