To date, the rooms I’ve been the best about “finishing” and really loving in our home have always been the nurseries.

Back when Lincoln was born, I had my grandfather paint an original acryllic for his room. The painting tied together the reds and the blues in the room and emphasized the nautical theme. Each night we’d point to the painting and talk about how great-grandpa painted it for Lincoln and it was SO special when Lincoln met him again at about 21 months that he could say “paint boat!” when I introduced them.

I tried to do the same thing when Adelaide was born but once the commissioned pieces were painted, they went up in a gallery show my grandfather was participating in and were not going to be hung in our home anytime soon. So when my friends at Minted.com asked if we’d like a piece of art for our home, I jumped at the chance to decorate our baby girl’s nursery.

In her room, the large abstract piece was a huge focal point and it just made me happy each time I’d look at it. It emphasized the midcentury modern design in the room and Adelaide loved staring at it as we’d pace in her nursery.

When we settled into our apartment in Boston this summer, we left the large paintings and prints in storage. But you know what? Nothing felt finished or “lived in” for me until we had a bit of art on the walls.

The prints we picked with Modsy for the nursery are also from Minted and they do SO much for the room! I love the warmth and play the pink toucan print brings in and the subtle depth the beach and abstract prints add. Once the art pieces were up it felt like a much more finished and happy space.

Whatever theme you’re planning for your nursery, Minted has the perfect art option. I love that you can sort by color and theme and that each print is available in a variety of sizes. If budgets are tight, the prints are much more affordable if you frame them yourselves (or thrift a frame and buy a piece of art to fit it!).

They also have a home styling service where (for $79-$99) they’ll recommend pieces and design your wall or room. You could also use Modsy and get decor advice for the full room for that same price, though. For nurseries, Minted does have collections where they’ve grouped pieces of art together that you can mix and match in your space (and they have the same pairings for fine art prints too).

Just be warned, it’s easy to get lost scrolling through their endless options! I love this one, this one, and this one for a calming yet modern nursery.
