Quince Cashmere Review: Every Piece I Own, Honestly Ranked

Quick answer: Quince cashmere is good, especially for the price. It pills (all cashmere does), it gets softer the more you wear and wash it, and if you size up, it looks more expensive than it costs. I’ve been buying it for five years and I’m still reordering. I think that says it all.

I’ve been shopping Quince since before most people had heard of it, and cashmere is where I started. Over the last five or six years I’ve accumulated a lot of their cashmere pieces for myself, my kids, my husband, and as gifts. I’ve washed and worn all of it enough to tell you what holds up and what you should skip. This is not a first-impressions post or a sponsored haul. It’s just what I know after five years.
Is Quince Cashmere Actually Good?
Yes, with one caveat: it pills faster than more expensive cashmere.
From what I understand, this comes down to fiber length. Cashmere made from longer fibers tends to pill less and last longer. Shorter fibers are more affordable to source and produce, but they do show wear more quickly. Quince cashmere uses shorter fibers, which is part of how they keep the price so low. My Jenni Kayne cashmere pills too, just a little later.
The good news is that pilling is manageable. I use a cashmere comb (I ordered this one off of Amazon) and a sweater shaver, and both work well. Once you comb it out, the piece looks great again. I do this with all my cashmere, not just Quince. For my Quince pieces, I comb every 3-5 wears.
What Quince cashmere does really well is softness over time. My oldest piece is a men’s crewneck I originally bought my husband about five years ago. He wore it for a couple of years and then I stole it, and I wore iti constantly last fall/winter. It has been washed more times than I can count and it is one of the softest sweaters I own. It has a slightly fuzzy surface at this point from years of wear, but it looks great and I still get compliments on it regularly.
For care, I machine wash all of my cashmere on a gentle cycle and lay flat to dry. I try not to wash too frequently.
Quince Cashmere Sizing: What You Need to Know
I am a true XS. Here is how I size in Quince cashmere:
Cashmere tees: I prefer a Small. This gives a slightly relaxed, elevated look. If you want a very fitted look, go true to size. If you want an oversized look, go up two.
Cashmere crewneck sweaters: I wear a Medium but could also take a large. This is intentional. Sized up two sizes, they look more luxurious and more expensive. True to size, they are quite fitted and a little less interesting.
Cashmere cardigans: I ordered my true XS in the boyfriend cardigan and it fit perfectly with a nice oversized drape.
The general rule with Quince cashmere is that it runs true to size for a traditional close fit, but it looks better with a little extra room. If you are between sizes, go up and if you want the more trendy oversized fit, go up two. That said, the review section on each piece is helpful because there are a few quince pieces that are meant to be oversized and are sized that way.
Every Quince Cashmere Piece I Own
Mongolian Cashmere Tee
This has become one of my most repurchased Quince pieces, which is the best testimonial. I own it in Ivory, Faded Denim, Forest Floor Green, and a new yellow stripe. I have the dusty pink and the varsity red in my cart at the moment.
What I love about this tee is that it bridges the gap between a basic t-shirt and a real sweater. In Southern California, we have this weird season where it’s warm but you still want a little something extra, and this is perfect for that. It’s also just more interesting than a regular cotton tee. Just as easy to style but looks more intentional and put together.
Sizing note: I wear a Small. Lighter colors (ivory especially) are slightly sheer, so keep that in mind.
Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater
This is the one I reach for most right now. I own it in Heather Grey and I’ve ordered it in Olive, Oatmeal, and Burgundy for other people. It is a classic, and I think it’s one of Quince’s best pieces because you can wear a cashmere sweater and not have to baby it.
The five-year-old green crewneck I stole from my husband is this style from the men’s section, and watching how well it has held up is what sold me on Quince cashmere long term. It still looks great. It just has that soft, slightly broken-in feel that good cashmere develops over time.
I wear a Medium in men’s and women’s (the mens fit is larger and I actually like it better than the women’s medium). Would not go back to my true size.
Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Crewneck Sweater
This is a chunkier, more textured take on the classic crewneck, and it’s a really beautiful piece. If you love the fisherman knit aesthetic, this one delivers. I’ve had this in mens and kids (and my sister ordered it in womens) I’ve had it passed through a couple of my kids and it has held up really well, which I think says something about the construction on this one specifically.
Cashmere Boyfriend Cardigan
This was actually my most-worn Quince piece for close to two years. The big, slouchy, cozy cardigan energy was exactly what I wanted and this one nailed it. I ordered my true XS and the fit is perfect for that effortless oversized look.
It is a great dupe of the Jenni Kayne cocoon sweater. I own the same sweater from Jenni Kayne in a few colors and the Quince one is a little thinner and pills faster but is just as soft and an excellent dupe at 1/4 the price.
I don’t reach for this style as much now just because my taste has shifted away from the huge cardigan silhouette, but that is a me thing right now and not a reflection on the piece. It is phenomenal. If you love that style, it’s an easy yes.
Cashmere V-Neck
I have this in Camel in a Small and really wish I had sized up. The fit is very close and tailored at a Small, and the color isn’t one that works best with my coloring. Both of those things are entirely my fault and not the sweater’s. If I ordered it again I’d go Medium or Large in a color that works better for me.
The quality is fine and consistent with the rest of their cashmere. I just don’t reach for it much because of the fit and color issue I created for myself.
Men’s Cashmere Henley Sweater
I ordered this for my husband in Brown in a Medium and it’s a great piece. The henley detail makes it feel a little more interesting than a basic crewneck and it’s easy to style. It is lightweight cashmere so it doesn’t give the full heavy drape of a Cos cashmere but the softness and style are there.
Men’s Cashmere Waffle Sweatshirt
I got this in Moss for my husband. He runs hot and lives in Southern California so he doesn’t wear a lot of heavier knits, but this one is actually more of a true sweatshirt weight than a thick sweater, which makes it a little more versatile for our climate. I haven’t stolen it yet but I have been tempted.
Washable Cashmere Jogger and Crewneck Set
This is probably the most-used cashmere purchase in our house, and that is saying something given how much cashmere we own.
I have this set and so does my son. We have literally handed it down from one kid to the next. It gets washed constantly and worn constantly. Yes, it pills with that level of use, but the cashmere comb takes care of it and the pieces still look great.
I wear mine to lounge around the house and also out. I wore the set to book club recently (if I have to leave the house when its cold and dark, it better in cashmere). The color matches exactly between the two pieces, which matters because nothing looks worse than an almost-matching set. My kids particularly love this set for traveling.
Quince Cashmere for Kids and Babies
Kids Cashmere Fisherman Crewneck
We have this in Cream and it is beautiful. The quality feels identical to the adult version, which I was not expecting. We have used it for family photos for years and it has been handed down through multiple kids and still looks great. I’m not sure it has even pilled, which might be because I save it for special occasions rather than everyday wear.
One note: I wish I had ordered it in a more durable color. Cream is stunning (especially for photos) but not ideal for actual kid life. If you’re buying this for regular wear, consider a darker color.
Baby Cashmere Jogger and Crewneck Set
This is a beautiful gift for a new baby, especially for someone who has had multiple children and already has all the gear. It is elevated, soft, and feels genuinely special.
The one caveat is that it’s best for pre-crawling babies and walkers. Once a baby starts crawling everywhere, cashmere knees are not going to survive. For snuggly newborn days and early months, it’s lovely. For a third baby shower gift for someone who has everything, it’s perfect.
How Quince Cashmere Holds Up Over Time
The best proof I have is the men’s crewneck I bought my husband five years ago, which I have now fully claimed as my own. I wear it like a sweatshirt. I machine wash it regularly. And it still looks great and feels incredibly soft. It has developed a slightly fuzzy surface from years of wear, which I actually think makes it look even more luxurious, not less.
The kids’ sets have been handed down through multiple children and washed constantly, and they’re still going.
The pieces that have held up least well are the ones that got the most casual, high-frequency wear without consistent combing. Cashmere is not fully hands-off. You do need to comb it every few wears to keep it looking its best. If you’re not willing to do that, it might not be the right fabric for you.

- Babylux Crewneck Sweater: This is one of Quince’s newer higher end cashmere pieces I would love to try!
- Striped cashmere sweater: This oversized striped number is perfection
- Cashmere tee (in varsity red or the stripe!): The true red is perfection and the stripe is a classic
Is Quince Cashmere Worth It? The Honest Answer
Yes. And here’s the comparison that puts it in perspective.
Quince cashmere is probably a step below Everlane (which I find a little thicker and more substantial – but did you see the news that Everlane just sold to Shein this week? We’ll see how that effects quality in the next few cycles) and in the same general territory as J.Crew. The difference is that my J.Crew cashmere is a slightly sheer cream sweater I rarely wear, while my Quince pieces get worn constantly. Wear frequency matters more than theoretical quality, and Quince wins on that front for me every time. If I spend $150 on a J.Crew sweater, I baby it a bit and don’t reach for it if I’m going to be picking up toddlers or cooking dinner. The Quince pieces are workhorses in my closet at a price I can wear for everything.
The pieces I would skip: any cashmere piece that is very close-fitting in a color that doesn’t work for you. Sizing is everything with their cashmere and it’s worth thinking about before you order. That camel v-neck I have in a Small is technically a fine piece of cashmere. I just made a bad call on size and color and now I don’t wear it.
The pieces I would buy again without thinking: the crewneck sweaters, the cashmere tees, and the jogger and crewneck set. Those three categories represent Quince cashmere at its absolute best.
Quince has expanded their cashmere category A LOT in the last year and there are so many options. I really want to try the cashmere fisherman crewneck and the boxy cashmere sweater. They also have a few brushed cashmere pieces at a higher price point that look fantastic.
If you’re new to Quince and want to start with one cashmere piece, start with the mongolian crewneck sweater in a neutral color, sized up two from your true size. Don’t save it for special occasions. It will become the thing you reach for every single day.
