I have always thought leather jackets weren’t for me. The dark colors don’t work with my palette, the edgy hardware feels off-brand for my personal style, and every time I’d try one on I’d feel like I was playing dress-up in someone else’s closet. Then I found this cream leather cropped jacket from Quince and everything changed.

A year and a half later, it is still one of the most-reached-for pieces in my wardrobe. Here’s everything you need to know about the jacket itself, plus four outfits that show you exactly how versatile it actually is.

The Quince Cream Leather Cropped Jacket: Is It Worth It?

Let’s talk about the jacket first, because if you’re on the fence, I want to give you an honest take.

Quality: I’ll be upfront that this is my first real leather jacket, so I’m not comparing it to a $600 All Saints or a vintage find. What I can tell you is that after a year and a half of regular wear, it still looks great. Quince uses 100% top-grain leather sourced from Leather Working Group (certified tanneries, and styles made with similar materials would typically run over $400 at other retailers). For under $250 the quality is good.

The look: This is what sold me. The boxy, cropped silhouette with minimal hardware makes it feel more like an overshirt than a traditional leather jacket. This means it works for daytime, the office, errands, and evenings out without feeling like you’re trying too hard. If you’ve always thought leather jackets weren’t your style (hi, me, nothing in my style is “edgy” so leather jackets didn’t seem like they’d work), this is the one to try first.

The colors: The other thing that sold me on this jacket were the color options. Most traditional leather jackets are black or a deep brown and this one comes in a great off white birch color and a lighter tan colorway (see all the colors they have!) .

Sizing: I’m typically an XS or S and ordered a small, which is my standard for Quince. It fits true to size with a relaxed, slightly oversized feel through the shoulders that’s intentional to the design. I would go with your true size or one up for a slightly oversized fit.

4 Ways to Style a Cream Leather Jacket

Outfit 1: Wide Leg Denim + Leopard Heels

What I’m wearing: Quince Leather Jacket, Quince Box Bag, H&M Jeans, Jockey Long Sleeve White Tee, Kate Spade Heels

This is the outfit I keep coming back to because it just works. The cropped length of the jacket paired with a full-length wide leg pant does something really flattering. It elongates the legs and keeps everything in proportion. If you’ve heard of the rule of thirds in fashion, this is exactly what it looks like in practice: one third jacket, two thirds pant.

The leopard heels add just enough personality without competing with the jacket. A basic white tee underneath keeps it clean, but you could swap in a neutral sweater for more warmth or a fitted turtleneck for a different look entirely.

Outfit 2: Sweater Dress + Pumps

What I’m wearing: Modern Citizen Sweater Dress, Quince Jacket, Jimmy Choo Romy 85 Pumps

This is how you get more mileage out of every sweater dress you own. I’m wearing the jacket draped over my shoulders here, but you could also button it up and treat the dress more like a skirt underneath — completely different vibe, same outfit. The cream jacket softens what could otherwise feel like a very polished look.

Swap the pumps for boots and this works all the way through winter.

Outfit 3: Trousers + Cashmere + Ballet Flats

What I’m wearing: Quince Jacket, Quince Cashmere Sweater, Cider Trousers, Salvatore Ferragamo Varina Bow Flats, Vivaia Bag

My favorite outfit of the four. This is the one I reach for when I genuinely cannot figure out what to wear because it answers every question at once. Office? Yes. Errands? Yes. Lunch with a friend? Absolutely. Feeling like you have it together even when you don’t? Again, yes.

The tonal cream and neutral palette is doing the work here. When everything is in the same color family, you don’t have to think too hard about whether it goes together. If you like color, though, you can absolutely pair this jacket with a neutral sweater and any colored pant.

Outfit 4: Cropped Denim + Clogs + Cashmere

What I’m wearing: Good American Palazzo Crops (slightly darker wash linked), Quince Clogs, Quince Cashmere Sweater, Quince Box Bag

A more casual take that still feels put together. The cropped denim and cropped jacket create a clean horizontal line, and the clogs give it a slightly 90s feel that works really well with the cream leather. This is my mom uniform for most of fall.

Quince Cream Leather Jacket: Final Thoughts

If you have been sleeping on this jacket, consider this your sign. It is surprisingly one of the more versatile pieces I own and the cream color opens up outfit combinations that a classic black leather jacket simply can’t. Quince leather quality is good for the price; You can get premium leather for much more, but you can also get inferior leather (or faux leather) for about the same price elsewhere. For a first leather jacket or an everyday one, I think it’s a really smart buy.
