This beauty routine post is created in partnership with Neutrogena, a brand I’ve used and loved for over a decade.

So the last few months have been a crash course in skincare for me as I’ve tried to really start giving my skin the care and attention it needs. I used to think it was all about the cleanser and the moisturizer and that I just had to find the right ones and be consistent.

Well, back in November I tried my first eye cream (well, my second but the first one that actually worked) and it blew me out of the water. Right around that time I started experimenting with serums, adding different ones to my morning and night routines, and was shocked at how big of an impact a few drops of product could have!

I’ve also been on the hunt for a few budget friendly and effective products to recommend so today I have three TYPES of products you should be adding to your skincare routine and then recommendations from Neutrogena for products I’ve been using in each category. Neutrogena Skin Care is Buy 1, Get 1 50% off right now (weeks of 2/4, 2/18 and 2/25) so now is a GREAT time to try 2 (or 4 or 6) of these new products!

3 Types of products to add to your beauty routine:

This is the BIGGEST change I’ve noticed in my skin and I’m on the hunt to try them all. I am loving this budget-friendly Neutrogena® Hydro Boost Multivitamin Booster (They also have a serum in this line (which I haven’t tried yet -but it’s on my list). It is extra- moisturizing (you can use it alone as a serum or add a pump to your favorite moisturizer) and brightens dull, tired skin.

I’ve been using it in the morning between my cleanser and my moisturizer and my skin feels more dewy throughout the day.

Clay mask

I first used a clay mask a few years ago and I was amazed at the results. Clay has been used to sooth and heal the skin since the time of Aristotle. Clay does a few different things for your skin. It pulls out toxins and also regulates sebum (oil) production. Additionally, it pulls hydrogen from skin cells, which allows more room for oxygen which leads to healthier, brighter looking skin.

I’ve tried a lot at different price points over the last few months and am currently using + loving NEUTROGENA® DEEP CLEAN® Purifying Clay Cleanser & Mask. It has a bit of salycilic acid as an active ingredient so I like this one best for a deep cleanse during that time of the month. I do love that you can use it once or twice a week as a clay mask just by leaving it on longer or use it daily as a regular cleanser (less products on the shelf is a win).

The other benefit of this one is that it’s white, so my kids are less scared of me than when I come out wearing dark black/green clay all over my face 😉

Eye cream

This was something I didn’t know I needed until I started using over the holidays. I didn’t realize the thin skin around the eyes is more delicate and more prone to show signs of aging than the rest of your face. Fluids also collect under the eyes which is why we get puffiness and dark circles. I always thought concealer and a couple good nights’ sleep was the cure but didn’t realize eye cream could work on a lot of these problems.

I just picked this Neutrogena Hydro Boost Eye Gel Cream up over the weekend because I’m on the hunt for a more budget friendly eye cream. I’ve only used it for a few days (so I’ll give you a full review in a few weeks if I’m consistent) but I like how thick it is and it feels like it’s tightening the bags under my eyes as I put it on. Let me keep using it and let you know how it holds up for nights I’m not getting 9 hours of sleep (Ben got up with the kids over the weekend so I could catch up on sleep, hallelujah).

Honorary Mention: It doesn’t fit into any of the three categories but I have also been using the Hydro Boost Water Gel as a moisturizer in the evening (and sometimes in the day if I’m not spending time outside so I’m less worried about SPF). I’ve noticed it is incredibly moisturizing and a little bit goes a long way. I do feel like my makeup goes on smoother when I’ve used this and overall I just love how supple + moist my skin feels.
