Toddler Girl + Boy Clothes // Mix ‘n Match Outfit Ideas
The cute toddler clothes + outfit post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of OshKosh B’gosh; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own, just like always.
Can you believe that we’re in the final month of summer? Ben starts school in a couple of weeks and we’re excited to settle into a new routine down in Cambridge (although we do have to manage to move all of our stuff up three flights of stairs first).
Picking out clothes for our little toddler boy (and toddler girl! when did she get so big!) is a favorite of mine but we’re at the stage where Lincoln is starting to have opinions. He wants shorts one day and pants the next, without regard for the weather. He’s particular about which shoes he wears and likes to choose the ones I wear, too.
Lincoln is his father’s son.
When Ben and I got married I realized he not only had more shoes than I did, but owned pants in a much wider variety of colors (and this was back in the colored denim trend and I was crushing hard on mustard and coral jeans). Because Lincoln LOVES matching, when I spotted these olive pants in OshKosh B’gosh last week, I grabbed a pair knowing that Ben has a pair or two that will match.
Do your kids find an item of clothing they love and want to wear it all the time? Or maybe they’re starting to have opinions and picking things that really don’t match?
To avoid a lot of that, I love to buy my kids clothes in color groups so that most of their things for the season match, regardless of what they choose to wear.
For Adelaide it meant a lot of grey + pink + denim her first year.
For Lincoln, almost 90% of his closet has been navy, red, and neutrals (tan, white, grey, denim).
It’s super easy to pick things in a single color palette because most stores already do it for you. Here I’ve put together three different looks around this darling pair of olive skinnies that would take Lincoln from preschool to playground, and everywhere in between.
I would add a pair of jeans, a few solid crew necks in short + long sleeves and Lincoln would be set for fall.
I grabbed everything from Osh Kosh and couldn’t resist getting a little matching outfit for Adelaide as well (does that shirt come in my size, please!?) You can snag this coupon by using the code: OKBG3352 for 20% off your $40 purchase online or find your nearest OshKosh B’gosh store here.
Let me know which look is your favorite!
Outfit 1: Dressed to Kill
boat shoes // white button down // chambray bow tie // belt // olive slim pants
There is just something about toddlers in bow ties. While they’re mostly reserved for Sundays around here, we like to find excuses to dress up too. First day of school outfit, anyone?
You can’t go wrong with a classic white button down either – something that can easily be dressed up or down and worn with anything in your toddlers closet.
Outfit 2: Our Little Bookworm
oatmeal sweater // desert boots // olive slim pants
The first piece of baby clothing I bought for Lincoln was a very similar marled shawl collar sweater that fit him when he was just a few months old so I love this thick and comfortable sweater, perfect for the colder weather ahead. And how fun are these desert boots? They’re laceup but quite easy to slip on and almost exactly like a pair Ben has floating around in an unpacked box somewhere 🙂
P.S. I was so excited about these next shots with some leather-bound classics but you can’t really tell that Lincoln is reading a compilation of writings from Abraham Lincoln 🙂
Outfit 3: King of the Playground
pocket tee // hooded henley // wool slip-on sneakers // olive slim pants
I love the fun take on a classic striped crew in this pocket tee but my favorite part of the outfit are the slip on wool sneakers. They’re super easy to get on, would match anything, and are a fun step-up in style to every outfit.
