5 Places we’re shopping for back-to-school
Where are we shopping for back-to-school clothes this fall?
You know, for things kids will feel confident in, that will make a good impression on the teacher, and that they can still run and play in during recess.
We transitioned our kids out of their uniform-clad charter school and so we’ve been adding a few new things to their wardrobe. It seems to be a tricky dance between style, comfort, and quality.
If you’re looking for good quality, cute, and comfortable back to school outfits for your elementary school kids, here is where to start!
Courtside Kids: After seeing the hype about this brand on social for the last two years, I finally spotted some of their polos IRL at Ben’s Harvard Business School reunion in May. I got the scoop from the mom and she, like everyone else, raved about the quality and comfort. Think lulu’s ABC pants, but for kids. Everything is made from high quality performance fabric but the styles look right out of a new england prep school catalogue. Win.
Colored Organics: This is a favorite for my toddler but they have sizing up to 6y so this should work for kinder! If you’re looking for sweet, comfortable playclothes in muted tones, don’t sleep on Colored Organics. I love that within a collection, everything mixes and matches so you don’t have to worry about your child building their own outfits.
Adidas: For footwear this fall we’re spending a little extra to buy a dash of confidence. My 3rd grader got matching Sambas with mom for back to school (our version of the hearts on hands). We’re all loving the colored gazelle options, too. While you’re ordering, check out the womens hoodies for yourself (this quilted jacket is my favorite!)
Rylee and Crew: Every fall I go through Noralee’s new arrivals for family photo outfit options but this is our first year trying things from their more casual brand, Rylee & Cru. Like colored organics you’ll get a fantastic color palette and fabrics that are playground approved. You’ll get a little more fashion forward prints + silhouettes, too.
Hanna Andersson: Hanna Anderson is THE queen of bright, fun, COMFORTABLE playwear for kids. My kindergartener is wearing hand-me-downs I bought his brother for kindergarten when he was in his “I will only wear my HA pajamas” phase. The only way I could convince him to get dressed in the morning was by purchasing pieces from Hanna Anderson in the same soft cotton fabric as our favorite pajamas. They have a lot of bold, fun, bright pieces but, if you’re going for more understated, they have a few options, too. I love this striped top and these jogger sweatpants (we have them in a few sizes).
