Walking in a Winter Wonderland this Christmas Season

How are you surviving the post-Christmas week this Christmas season?

I love Christmas, but I love this week between Christmas and New Years for another reason. The weeks leading up to Christmas are magical and busy and a tiny bit stressful, but this week is slow, and calm, and soft.

Here in New Hampshire we’re having the coldest of days but we’re all together and not minding it, much. I’m working hard at not reverting to my high school self being surrounded by my siblings again (anyone else?). I’m also trying to remember that my kids still wake up at 6:30, even if I go to bed at midnight.

We have my younger brother and sister home and we LOVED getting to skype with my other younger sister who is serving a mission in South Korea. We got to video call her on Christmas day and today a little package with letters for everyone arrived. She wrote the sweetest Christmas note to Lincoln, explaining why she was spending this Christmas season in Korea instead of with him. She told him there are some little boys who don’t know about Jesus, or that He loves them. And she wants to share that with as many people as she can.

you can bet I cried reading it to him – I love that sweet, dedicated sister of mine

We’ve spent our hours playing games inside, watching the new Star Wars, and today we spent a few hours in the morning hitting up the post-Christmas sales at the outlets and now, with the exception of organization items and workout gear, I’m planning on a spending freeze. But, in case you’re not, this cute bell-sleeved top is on sale for quite a bit cheaper than my sister and I got it. And while these boots aren’t on sale, they are my best winter purchase so far.

Stay warm, friend!

shirt: J. Crew Factory (sold out in red but available in stripes and a few different solids)

denim: AG Denim (finally splurged on the perfect pair of jeans I’ve been eying for four years)

boots: L.L. Bean (mine are these shearling-lined ones and my sister is wearing these ones)
