I hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend! Life is a new kind of well-rested wonderful around here and motherhood just keeps getting better and better (which, honestly, wasn’t too hard after that first week ..which was ROUGH!). This new kind of wonderful involves bursts of productivity during nap time and plenty of giggling and cooing in between. Lincoln has become significantly more vocal during the past couple of days (check out this tiny snippet) and we love it! In fact, when Ben gets home from work, my two boys spend a good five minutes gurgling and smiling together and its my favorite time of day (and not just because Ben got home and took the baby).
I was hoping by this point to be able to share a little peek into our nursery but right now all that’s in there is an almost-too-small bassinet and two pictures leaning against the wall, waiting to be hung. We have some furniture on its way and a few projects I’m excited about, but its meant that other than for sleeping, we are never in there. We do all of our playing, feeding, and changing in various corners of the living room and Ben and I are both a bit excited to get Linc all settled and not feel like baby things are taking over our whole. entire. house. So instead of a nursery tour, here’s a peek into lots of typical scenes with Linc (except as of late one of us is usually covered in spit up):
^^This corner of the sectional has been the primary diaper changing station since we brought the babe home – we just keep everything in a little basket next to the towel/receiving blanket. Lincoln loves laying here so much we end up playing for a good twenty minutes after his diaper or outfit has been changed – or he’s content to lie here and just look at the light coming through the windows.
^we alternate between singing to him and mimicking his coos and he loves it^baby boy loves to be sitting up these days
One essential product we’ve kept in the living room until we set up a changing table in his nursery is the Arm & Hammer Diaper Pail (its made by Munchkin and I’ve heard fantastic things about the rest of their baby products). It contains any smell of a diaper and I love the sleek design that doesn’t scream baby and looks great.
^When you close the lid after putting a diaper in, the bag completely seals off the inside so no smell escapes 😉 Thank goodness for well designed products because my sensitive nose did not go away when the pregnancy was over.
^And just one shot from the other corner of the living room we spend a lot of our time in. My parents brought this rocking chair from home when they came to visit and the quilt is a “little engineer” baby quilt my mom made for Linc (his dad is an engineer after all).
