Less than 48 hours after we got back from California, I grabbed the last of my clean maternity clothes we got back in the car for another weekend in Cincinnati. It was probably our last before baby gets here and I am so grateful for friends who stay when distance grows. Friday night was a church Christmas party followed by lots of games. Saturday was sleeping in, crazy workouts, late lunches, baby snuggles (my favorite – even though I guess a 2 year old is no longer a baby), international grocery stores (my second favorite), and lots more games. I kept the camera packed away for most of the weekend but I pulled it out for a bit on Sunday and here are just a few snapshots:
^the biggest eyed 9 month old you ever did meet. She also has a smile that melts you and she loves to give it when she sees my camera (very unlike her brother who detests my camera…hence no pictures of my favorite 2 year old in the world). The only time I wish I was having a girl is when I see the darling outfits this little one wears (and when we talk about names…naming boys is harder than naming girls).
^ironing his sunday best for church 🙂
^I didn’t manage to get a picture while the Christmas bow-tie was tied … but how I love Ben in a bow tie 🙂
^Saturday night Casey made the most amazing roast … and so Sunday had a low key “snack all day” kind of menu. Back in college we had a snacking tradition of wheat thins, cheddar cheese, and pepperocinis (which mostly Ben + friends ate), that we brought back for the weekend. Game nights with good friends have become a year old tradition…but we had fun remembering this exact day last year and the game night we had. Again, so grateful for friends these days, and traditions, and yummy food.
^I added spreadable herb swiss cheese and candied nuts (along with some stronger peppers for the braver folks) to top our baugette with (side note: I usually make our french bread and I had to cut this one SO thin for it not to be too hard to bite. back to homemade bread it is).
^a favorite brazilian soda the boys drank all weekend
^the favorite combo: spreadable herb swiss cheese, jalapeno pepper, candied walnut – definitely a step above the usual crackers and cheese
^after church I changed straight into Agnes Dora leggings (which are amazing btw…I lived in them before I was pregnant too). Also, unless I bend forward, I can’t see my feet – thats a 34 week baby bump for you.
^I picked up a variety of Mezzetta peppers to add the kick to our snacks but I wish I could have found their everything spreads at our Kroger because those look AMAZING! (you can share your holiday memories here to be entered to win a Mezzetta gift basket daily)
^seeing Casey’s home all decorated for the holidays is giving me extra motivation to get unpacked ASAP so we can get our Christmas decorations up (and our very first tree!)
^soft Sunday light (side note: I love curtains that fall all the way to the floor — they’re on my list somewhere after “crib” and “dishwasher” )
^I apologize in advance for the overload of baby pictures you’ll get come january — turns out babies are one of my favorite things to photograph
^those eyes though
