Sealed together for eternity

//  by Elisabeth McKnight//  9 Comments

Here are the words I wrote a week after our wedding:
Ben and I chose to get married in the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’ Boston Temple. I’ve written before a little about why I wanted to get married in a temple – but it was beautiful. It was a simple ceremony, performed by my grandfather, but it was perfect. There was no fanfare, no isle, no extravagant flowers or frivolous words. Just the two of us, across an altar from each other, surrounded by family, becoming one in the eyes of the Lord – forever. I’m his and he’s mine and we’re both sealed together with promises to the Lord. It was simply beautiful, simply everything I could have wanted, simply perfect.
After the ceremony we had lots of pictures taken on the beautiful grounds of the temple – and you know, I thought my mouth would get tired after smiling for so many pictures – turns out I couldn’t have stopped beaming if I’d tried.
And here is some picture overload for you. It was hard to cut it down from 300 to 20, so bear with me – thanks 🙂

    You look so beautiful. I love hearing your recaps. Would love to hear more about what it is like being married in the LDS church. Its not a big religion in NC

    what a beautiful sentiment 🙂 there's a piece I sang as a chorister – I'm sorry, I don't know if LDS uses any of the same texts or music as mainstream Protestant churches, but the words are from the Song of Solomon:

    Set me as a seal upon thine heart / as a seal upon thine arm / for love is strong as death / many waters cannot quench love / neither can the floods drown it
