I am supposed to be writing this post in a few days, from the comfort of my couch, after a few nights in my own bed. The pictures were supposed to be edited only after catching up with my husband and cooking a meal for the first time in two weeks. But, when ice storms hit Cincinnati and you end up stranded overnight in the Denver airport, there is little else to do other than make friends with an odd assortment of people and edit countless pictures.
While I still have some from Idaho, and quite a few from Alt, my mind is on this last week in Provo so thats whats happening today. Here are a few snippets of my grand weekend galavanting around our old stomping grounds (yeah, I feel old using the term “stomping grounds” 🙂
^I got back to Utah Thursday evening and Bonnie picked me up straight from the shuttle station (read: Wendy’s) for dinner and then our blogging roundtable. We used to lead these blogging focused roundtable discussions before I moved and it was fun to be able to do it again (plus, after Alt, all I want to do is talk blog to whoever will listen). The irony is that the discussion focused on photography and these were the worst pictures of the whole trip.
^^After a fun few hours talking blog, this girl and her husband picked me up and our reunion was something like the picture above.
^^I stayed with Carly and Ryan, in our old apartment complex, and there was a time or two I caught myself walking toward our old door instead of theirs. We sure do miss living next to these two. Thursday night was full of catching up and playing games on those leather couches of theirs I’d missed so much.
^^I went from brunch with Kenzie to a fun freshman reunion lunch with these kids. Can it be that its been four years since we were all in the dorms together?
^all back together again
^^turns out I did know people from Ohio before moving there, they just all happened to live in Provo.
^This beautiful girl road tripped with ben and me to California before we started dating. While there, she lent us the fifth season of 24 and our excuse to spend so much time together. She therefor gets partial credit for what became of those long nights of Jack Bauer 🙂
^^The highlight of lunch was FINALLY seeing Courtney and we spent the rest of the evening together. Court and I were roommates before I got married and she’s spent the past two years serving a mission in Russia. It was a blissful reunion. One of the two last things we did together before she left for Russia was go to the temple and eat at Thai Village. We fit in both on Friday.
^^I have a full post of fun things from Saturday so we’ll fast forward to Sunday. These are a few Ryan snapped after church (SO fun being back in our old ward for a day).
Sunday reminded me how grateful I am for friends who inspire me with their faith, their love, and their struggles. Living with Carly and Ryan, the weekend was full of laughter and inside jokes, but also sprinkled with some of the deeper things in life.
^^Monday night I went as Courtney’s date to her family’s annual Valentine’s dinner party and white elephant gift exchange. I contemplated stealing her darling niece, but settled for the conversation hearts in our goodie bags 🙂
Not Pictured: red velvet cookies with old friends, Thai chicken pizza with David, Einstein’s bagels with Brittany, late night mcflurry runs and playplace playing, Jamba with Tyler, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something… the past weekend revolved almost entirely around the combination of good food and great people. I loved it.
Now lets pray I can make it back to my own kitchen and my very favorite person. I think I’ve had my dose of airports for the next little while.
