polkadots and bourdeaux

blouse: H&M// jeans: AE// loafers: Nine West
I flew one hour less than my dad did last week and I went from NH to UT last night while he went from NH to Tokyo. Cheap tickets can officially be equated with extremely long travel time. Having lots of short flights led to lots of interesting conversation. There was the special education professor at UNH (not to be confused with the other old woman who wanted me to marry her 30 year old son). There was the sullen student who was not up for much chit chat. And then on my final leg from Houston to Salt Lake (yes, for my 1 hour layover I was ten minutes away from this girl and it just about killed me), I sat by the cutest little family. Mom and Dad with a 4 year old, a 2 year old, and a baby. They were beyond precious. I thought I had lucked out with the best flight companions yet until about halfway through the ride I really needed to go to the bathroom. But, how can you ask to go to the bathroom when dad finally got this baby to sleep? I opted for holding it.

On to this outfit: While I was home I had my little sister snap a few pictures of some of my new favorite pieces. This polka dot shirt was an early Christmas gift from my neighbor (I may or may not have bought her the exact same shirt…) and I am obsessed with the loose fit, the stark polka dots, and the versatility of it. While home I wore it with jeans out shopping, tucked in to a pencil skirt for church, and layered under a chunky sweater for an evening in.

These bordeaux loafers are my new favorite shoe. Here I wore them more as an accent color but I’ve been using them as a neutral as well. I affectionally refer to them as my “mom shoes” (my mother has been trying to get me to wear shoes like this for years) and picked up a matching pair for her last week.

Do you like?
Do you prefer the term “bordeaux” or “oxblood?”
Oh and did you see the engagements I posted last night?

i like oxblood becuase i can't figure out how to say the other word.
    haha.
you and carly are cute. love it.

  2. i wouldn't mind oxblood if it was a color that no one has ever seen before. but those colors already exists. burgundy and bordeaux are already here. oxblood needs to find a color that doesn't already exist.

  3. I prefer bordeaux to oxblood, but really I just usually call it burgundy. šŸ˜€

    Love the polka dots!

  4. Poor maroon must feel awfully lonely what with her fancy cousins, bordeaux and oxblood, moving into town.

I love Nine West. Mom was always right when she said how important it is to take care of your feet! šŸ™‚

  5. i hate that same blouse and LOVE it. it's a great chic go to when i feel stumped šŸ™‚ (found you through the pleated poppy)

  6. Love love love that outfit! I like "bordeaux," especially when it comes to the color on sweaters or pants. For shoes it's fine, but I don't want an "oxblood" sweater :).

  7. Love the color combo!!! Question, how do you get your vertical and horizontal pics to be the same width?? I'm still a technology noob and can't figure it out šŸ™‚

  8. Not sure if my comment post. I wrote it on my phone. But I love those shoes.! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, I also followed you back. Your Christmas photo is so beautiful. (I think that's everything I said, lol)
