I grew up Tokyo, but for two months my mom would haul all of us back to the states for a good old American summer with family and watermelon (in Japan watermelon can be upwards of $50). Dad would join us for two weeks vacation somewhere in the middle, but there were a few times she was making the sixteen hour trip with four kids under 8 alone. One thing she always had us do was dress up for flying (if she was going to have the loud crazy kids of the flight, at least people would think we were cute). This didn’t mean shirt and ties, but cute matching outfits that were comfortable enough to fall asleep in. Fast forward fifteen years:
Carly snapped these my last morning in Utah last month as we spent the morning in Salt Lake before heading to the airport. Confession: this was my first maxi and I’m not sure why it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon. I love them for flying because they keep you warm enough on chilly flights but they’re easy to pull up just a little when its too warm. Add a statement necklace and you look put together despite the comfy and casual look.
I love Modbod‘s collection of maxis and if you’re in Utah, you can check out all the options in stores. For the rest of us, they’re finally starting to offer some online! I’m obsessed with this twist on the black and white striped and this coral number. Pair it with one of their classic tees in any shape for a perfect summer ensemble.
You can bet I”m putting this again for my flight this weekend!
