On Being Cool

I got home over Christmas break to help my youngest sister get ready for her first ever school dance. Huge deal guys, huge deal. I had the large responsibility of hair for the seven girls that got ready at our house. No pressure right?
It was so fun to listen to all of them talk while getting dressed (in their adorable, and oh-so-similar lace dresses).  I would wear almost all of them. Here is to an awesome school with a sleeve requirement on their dresses (and this school is in New Hampshire!). Fourteen year olds that look like fourteen year olds, not strippers. Amen.
Biggest mark of my success? They loved my playlist. I can still pick music for a pre-dance party 🙂
Aren’t they all darling? One of the best nights of my four days home, playing the cool older sister is my new favorite role. And its a really good thing I learned how to curl hair two months ago. I’m also just startling to learn to curl my hair with a straightner. Which do you recommend (straightner or curler)?
Can you still remember your first dance?
How do you curl your hair?

  1. That looks like such a fun evening! I've had the privilege of helping my cousins get dressed and their hair done for their high school dances. I never really went to a dance, but the getting ready part is the best part, I'm pretty sure!

  2. I bet this was so fun and I'm sure it meant the world to your sister!

    Xo, B

  3. Is it weird that I'm 31 and really want the little red cap sleeved dress that a 14 year old is wearing?? They look great – you did a good job 🙂

  4. they are all so cute!!
    when it comes to curls…i have both instruments and i guess it depends on the effect you want to achieve. i prefer with the flat iron and i think it looks more natural (at leats in my hair), big barrels curlers also give a natural effect but it might not last as much. in my case instead of a curler i have a wand. it's easier to use, faster and the curls are more define…but yet if i ever have to retouch my natural curls i use the flat iron…

    well i dont know if i was of any help! lol

    Bea =)

  5. Congrats on being able to pick an appropriate playlist! I always want to play fun music with my eight year old cousin but it's so hard to find music that is both fun and appropriate. Suggestions?

  6. Aw, this looks like so much fun! What were your songs?! I'd love to hear!

  7. First of all – holy goodness, responsible for the hair of 7 girls? I could never do that. Second of all – props on the playlist 🙂 (actually I'd kind of like to know what was on it)
