Note to world: This girl is no longer on the market.
Liv and I have been cousins almost my whole life (she is just a few months younger than I am) – but our love affair started the summer before high school, the one when I added five countries to my list as we cruised the Baltic waters and perused along the coasts of Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Russia, Germany, and Denmark. In high school she was my rock. I knew if it was something I felt comfortable telling her on our weekly phone dates, than it was an okay thing. She has always been an example of charity, goodness, work ethic, intelligence, and friendship. I am so grateful to have her here at BYU, always there when I need someone – the perfect combination of friend and family.
Brian proposed over Christmas break, complete with flowers, waves, a lighthouse, and the most beautiful ring. I always liked Brian, but knowing that he’s smart enough to snatch up a good thing – makes him that much better 🙂 He is one of the luckiest guys I know.
I wanted to share a few of the words Olivia shared with me about my own wedding. They were meant for a blog feature long ago, but seem so fitting now:
October 27, 2011
“…I loved hearing updates about all the cute things he did for you, from the Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt to the adorable texts and poems. It was interesting to me how we both had similar things we were looking for in future eternal companions (or at least boyfriends), but that Ben was perfect for you, and I thought Brian was perfect for me. They’re really different, but I think good for each of us…
…I had been praying for you and Ben, that the wedding day would go smoothly and fulfill all your hopes and expectations, but I should’ve also been preparing myself to see the happiness that comes from a temple marriage. A lot of decisions we make don’t have good consequences until much later, but I think a temple marriage gives both instantaneous and long term happiness. As it is, I was surprised at how strongly I felt the Spirit confirming to me the importance of families and temple ordinances…
I look forward to so many good times as we’re students, and then eventually later with our own families. You’re a great example to me of how things are supposed to happen. I love you so much, Elisabeth.”
I can’t wait for you to have that same joy, Liv. If there is anyone I know that deserves it, its you.
I love you, forever.
and I can’t wait till we can add your picture to this cousin collage 🙂
