I’ve mostly transitioned my closet completely to maternity clothes now at 22 weeks with just a few stragglers (exercise clothes, a few pairs of flare jeans that are too big regularly, and some oversized sweaters) because most things are just too short to really cover the bump and everything maternity seems to be more comfortable. The real exception to this though is dresses. I’ve picked up a few new non-maternity pieces that work so well with the bump (due to the cut or the fabric) and I love the fact that I’ll be able to wear them post baby. I’ve been sticking mainly to bodycon dresses in stretchy fabrics and size up once or twice (even when the bump is gone, as long as I’m nursing/pumping I need things in a size or two larger — I wasn’t prepared for that last time around).
maternity tip: layering on a long cardigan or vest with a bodycon dress keeps a flattering silhouette (hiding love handles etc)
P.S. This golden rod dress from Alie Street (a newish British label) is made from the most amazing fabric. I’m not sure how much longer it’ll work with this bump but I’m excited to wear it again towards the end of the summer and into fall because something as pretty + well made as it is comfy is right up my alley.
