So I’ve been using the same basic make-up routine for about six years. I switched it up a tad this spring when I switched from the bareMinerals powder foundation to their liquid and when I learned a bit about contouring and highlighting, but over all, I haven’t been that adventurous. It’s not that I don’t love me some new beauty products, it’s just that standing in the middle of Sephora is a little intimidating. There are so many brands, so many options. So, when asked if I wanted to try out GlossyBox, it was a no brainer.
Have you heard about their subscription box service? No? Each month they send you five beauty products in a specially curated box (that is darling btw – it’s just like opening a present). The brands and products are always vetted and tested so you know you’re getting the best (plus it’s fun that some of them are emerging brands that you may not have heard of otherwise, but are still top notch).
It totally takes out my anxiety of ‘too many options’ out of trying new beauty products and the box comes with a little flyer that explains each product and gives you the price point of each item (along with application/usage tips!). I love that the value of the products is much higher than you’re paying for the box, so that even if I don’t really love one or two of the items, I’m still getting a good deal.
In my November box, it’s like they knew exactly what I needed. Here’s what was included and a few of my thoughts:
Herbal Bath: Balancing in Lavender by Kniepp
This bottle of goodness smells incredible and I’m not sure if it was the camphor, lavendar, and eucalyptus leaf oils that enhanced my overall mood (as promised) or the increased number of baths I took. But, either way, I’m a huge fan. It’s something I’d get again to treat myself or gift to a friend (especially one who is pregnant).
Instant Healthy Hair Treatment by 12 Benefits
I finally got my hair cut in November and it has been feeling silky and healthy ever since, so I wish I had this product in September and October when I was really feeling the results of too much curling and summer sun. I do really like the smell and that it claims to prevent split ends (the downfall of my hair). I’m hoping it helps with the whole post partum hair thing).
Universal Blush by So Susan Cosmetics
I love the color (and checked out the reviews on GlossyBox.com to find out that the color really did seem to work for everyone that received it) and how long the blush lasts. You can tell it’s a great quality blush by how strong the pigment is (a little bit goes a long way).
Nail Laquer in Light Pink by OPI
Okay, so I’ll admit I was a bit surprised when I opened this fall box to find a light pink nail polish. The description explains it’s a “rosy play on the classic neutral for fall” but I would have preferred a deep burgundy or a more brown neutral. That said, OPI makes a wonderful nail polish and I was surprised I could really tell the difference. The color is long lasting and doesn’t chip…and I think I’ll get quite a bit of use out of it come spring (if I ever paint my nails with a new baby…).
Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer by Juice Beauty
This is easily my favorite product in the box and my skin agrees. It’s certified organic (which I care more about while I’m pregnant) and after this campaign, I’m sold on the benefits of starting a bit of anti aging as soon as possible. The lotion is moisturizing without being too heavy and beats out all the other moisturizers I’ve tried in the past few years.
If you’re interested, you can check out pricing for the boxes here (you can get billed each month, or pay in full for 3, 6, or 12 months and get a discount). If my little sisters were more into make-up, it would be something I’d consider for Christmas presents for sure and I love that the gift would last more than just Christmas morning.
P.S. This post is in partnership with Shop At Home + GlossyBox (and if you purchase your GlossyBox and you have a Shop At Home account, which is free, you get $3 off your purchase).
P.P.S. I shared another maternity style/life update this morning in case you missed it!
