Yesterday we wrangled two children for a solid fifteen minutes in attempts to get a family picture to use on our Christmas card this year (remember last year’s that doubled as a pregnancy announcement?). Christmas cards are so hard for me because I love taking pictures of my family, but I hate narrowing it down to one image. I need something where you can see all four of us, where Ben and I look like happy, sane adults and the kids’ personalities are shining through. It is so much easier for me to narrow it down to 3-4 pictures for a blog post than it is to pick that one shot.
Anyway, I did end up ordering cards last night (and the shot I used from this shoot is just one of about 20 pictures on the card), but I wanted to share some of the outtakes because all Lincoln wanted to do was play with leaves and go eat cookies.
^Grandma, who is grandma and why would I look at her while she’s taking pictures? And jackets are fun to eat, obviously.
^Tickling was the only way to get this boy to smile
^Every minute or two he got a leaf exploration break
^I gave up on taming Adelaide’s hair a long time ago
^He’s laughing because he’s being tickled but he’s grimacing because I won’t let him get down … ^I laugh every time I see this shot because what you can’t see is that Ben and I were standing a bit too close to each other half a second before and banged heads as we tried to throw our children up in the air
^Trying to reason with this toddler – I was either promising barney or cookies in exchange for two more minutes of smiles…. it didn’t work. Adelaide is just sitting there like “Come on, Lincoln. Get with the program.”
