Black and White and Red All Over

This week has brought a lot of peace. Its funny, because its also been busier than most, but in between the to do lists there has been a calm assurance that what’s coming next is good, even if I don’t know what it is yet.

My birthday was on Thursday and it was just lovely. I woke up before the sun and headed to my first Pure Barre class (which kicked my butt). After a few quiet moments at home reflecting over the past year, I cleaned up for a small brunch my dear friend Casey and Haley put together. We  munched on nutella ebelskivers, fresh fruit, and individual egg casseroles while spending the morning talking about faith and babies (when both of them have the cutest boys you’ve ever seen, its easy to get sucked into baby conversations). I’m so grateful for those two girls and how great they’ve made this move to Cincinnati.

In the afternoon I ran a few errands I’d been saving for my birthday, including picking up some beauty items during Clinique’s bonus time at Nordstrom. After taking advantage of the friends and family sale at GAP and drooling over everything in the Kate Spade that opened here last week, I headed home for a quiet evening in. I called family, feasted on some Alfredo, and enjoyed quality time with Benjamin (and he took the whole night off from studying for the GMAT, it was my lucky day :). We went out the following night to celebrate but for my birthday, I just wanted to be in bed, cuddling to a movie by eight p.m.

Friday night we spent date night enjoying noodles and exploring Barnes and Noble. I do love that store, especially when the majority of their journals are 30% off (you can see some of the adorable ones in the pictures above). I picked up a new journal (I crave fresh cleans pages that are just begging to be filled) and a fun coffee table book (we felt rather old and mature buying a coffee table book).

Saturday was a full day of pictures. I was in front of the lens all morning and behind it for a few hours in the afternoon. I can’t wait to share some fun things coming in the next week or two but at the moment I have a thousand pictures to edit (literally) and am in desperate need of a bigger hard drive. I’ve been having lots of fun learning lightroom and if any of you photogs out there have any great lightroom resources you love, please share!

Today started off with a lazy morning; I love not having church till eleven because Sunday is the only day Ben sleeps in. Waking up to him still asleep and dozing in his arms will always be a favorite. Church was a treat with the children (ages 3 -11) putting on their annual program. It is so powerful to hear truth from the mouths of kids. They alternate between speaking and singing and their simple messages of a loving Father who knows us and loves us really touched me. They ended with a favorite song of mine, “If the Savior Stood Beside Me,” which was a wonderful personal reminder to be better. The rest of Sunday involved relaxing, reading, cooking, and game night – the perfect recharge for another busy week.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!
