One of my favorite parts of our trip to California was the two days we spent in Pacific Grove.
The weather was cloudy and rainy but the fifty five degrees felt balmy after winter in Boston and being able to let the kids run around outside, listening to the ocean, was wonderful.
Ben grew up coming here each year with his family and it is so fun to take our kids to places and imagine a toddler Ben walking around them, too.
The only time I pulled my camera out was for this walk on Asilomar Beach our first evening but we also brunched at Toasties, spent a day at the aquarium in Monterey, and ate Salmon at Sea Harvest. We read lots of stories and played with Nonni and Poppy. And Lincoln still talks about the octopus cookie we let him get at the aquarium.
Here are a million more pictures from this beautiful walk:
A few old posts from these same spots:
- this same walk with Adelaide a year and a half ago – I can’t believe how much she’s changed
- before kids with almost this same itinerary (we look like babies ourselves)
- our last trip to Monterey with the kids
- my first trip to Monterey with Ben and his parents (7 years ago!)
(trying to recreate the pictures we took in this post where she was just learning to walk!)

outfit details: I lived in these lounge pants or jeans and a sweatshirt this trip so nothing huge or mind-blowing here – but sharing anyway, like usual
my coat: This has been my winter coat for the last two year sand it’s been GREAT…except when we had a 4 degree day that felt like negative 19 degrees last week and I caved and ordered a heavier duty one (more great winter coats here)
