An Old Love and a New One

The second Sunday as a married woman in Utah I sat down at our women’s group at church next to a cute curly haired girl in a navy skirt. I knew the names of maybe three people in the room. Her name was Carly. She was from Boston. Please let her want to be my friend. Silent prayers are answered.
A year and a half later, we’ve moved across Provo with Carly and Ryan and we call them our married roommates. We dine together frequently; baby talk is not a rare occurrence; sometimes we knock just to say goodnight. If 24 hours pass without seeing them, its tragic. After my galavanting through Dallas and Chicago, they cut their thanksgiving short to spend the last of the weekend with us (we were in desperate need of some Carly/Ryan time)- which brings me to our new love:
White Collar.
Have you ever watched it? Neil Caffrey anyone? It has the light, witty humor of Psych, with the intrigue of 24 (although admittedly Neil is a little more charming than Jack). It keeps you wanting more without giving you nightmares – and boy do we laugh! Carly and Ryan sent the text a few hours before they got back to Provo, “Your job: watch the first 2 episodes of White Collar before we get back.” Guys, I’m telling you, it’s fantastic. Brilliant actually. Obsessed.

P.S. This girl really is amazing. It’s like getting married and having the benefits of living with your husband without losing those of not living with your best girl friend. She got married just two weeks after I did and having her these past 18 months has meant so much. I love you Carly.

  8. Love having friends like this šŸ™‚ &Yes, I do have them! I hold them dear to my heart. I think it is adorable you guys knock to say goodnight to each other haha

  9. I love the honesty in the statement "please let her want to be my friend". I think that a lot. Actually recently I had someone at the beginning of a friendship say "come on, Chrystina, let's actually make something of this friendship, not just see each other for a few weeks and that be the end of it" and it was a breath of fresh air and I sighed in relief (in my head). I thought to myself, "he wants to be friends with me just as much as I want to be friends with him!!" – it felt good. (yes, actually just friends)
