You are here: Home / everything else / a mountain excursion

a mountain excursion

March 3, 2013 //  by Elisabeth McKnight//  7 Comments

Happy Sunday! I’m back home and LOVING the warm spell that Provo is having. It was sunny yesterday and this morning its raining, RAINING! Maybe March is bringing the end of all this now?
I have lots of thoughts and pictures to share with you from the conference I’ve been at but before those get uploaded I wanted to share our xc skiing experience from Friday afternoon. After two days of research, meetings, and writing, we got a little break for an outdoor excursion. Its been two years since I’ve been on these kind of skis and I’d forgotten how much I like it! It is such good exercise and its far more liberating (word choice?) to go downhill on xc skis. We had about twenty of us attempting this little trail. There was lots of flailing and falling with plenty of laughter and pictures. Overall, SO MUCH FUN – if you can go xc skiing, go. And if you haven’t been before, maybe don’t go with your camera around your neck 😉
Have you ever been cross country skiing?
What have I missed this past week? Fill me in?

I LOVE cross country skiing! I have never downhill skied (yes, I am a COlorado girl who has never skied) because I only snowboard. I so enjoy having poles on the "cat trails" that cross country skiing is made up of!!!! I also love your pictures!

Haven't been xc skiiing since middle school! I was on the team with borrowed skis but at the end of the season, my mom decided I wasn't good enough to invest money in buying them for me! 🙁 It's okay, I was/am also terrified of going down hills, so I don't think I would've ever lived up to much of a competitive xc skiier anyway…. 😉

It looks like soo much fun, though. I wonder if it's like riding a horse or a bike? Most of it all comes back? (Or, unfortunately, like language learning, where NONE of it comes back :P)
