A Cloudy Day in California
Well Ben and I are posted up in the Denver airport, waiting for our connecting flight, and I’m having fun going through some of the many pictures we took over the past two weeks in California. Here’s an overload from our first full day out of the frozen tundra we left behind in Ohio (a million more pictures after the jump):
^^The forecast called for clouds and drizzles until noon but we spent the morning walking along the Santa Cruz coast anyway.
^There was a junior surf competition going on and we had fun watching some of the surfers for a bit
^a 32 week baby bump in the sweater I’ve been living in for most of this trip
^Ben just blending in with the horizon
^how neat is this staircase to the ocean that the surfers were using?
^a little father-son bonding
^had to capture my f.i.l using this floral umbrella
^^all I can think of with this picture is the scene from Jungle Book “What do you wanna do?” “I don’t know, what do you wanna do?”
^the water on the trees kinda looked like Christmas lights
^what a cutie š
^After the Santa Cruz coast we wandered a bit more south to Capitola
^how cute is this little part of Capitola?
^part of it is built along this large canal that leads out to the water
^a homage to when this blog was “La Vita e Bella”
^^we headed back to Santa Cruz for a late lunch on the pier at a new restaurant called Fire Fish (and it happened to be one of the top five meals I’ve ever had). If you go during the week, as for the local/resident’s menu and get the salmon. And then plan on being disappointed with every other fish you ever eat.
^the view from the pier
^this huge guy wasn’t even phased by people walking right past him
^I didn’t dare get any closer
^the view from the restaurant – so beautiful!

Thanks Sandra! We had lots of fun š
BEAUTIFUL pictures! I'm craving a beach scene now. totally jealous.
These pictures made me feel like I was there with you, and made me ache for missing California. So absolutely gorgeous. And I love your sweater!
I must ask what kind of camera you use! (Sorry if you've mentioned this before, and I simply missed it.)
Hi Rebekah – we shoot everything using the nikon d5200 with a couple different lenses. Mostly we use the 50mm 1.8 lens that Ben got me for Christmas last year but a couple of the ones in this post were shot with the macro lens that came in the camera bundle (we hardly ever use the kit lens that came with the camera). Hope that helps!
Beautiful photos! My brother lives in California – I should visit more often! š
