1 // I need very little to be happy.
2 // Good friendships are therapeutic, no matter the distance.
3 // Faith is the opposite of fear, although sometimes it is hard to choose to the former.
4 // Ben was a better decision than I ever thought.
This year started off with an early drive home to Cincinnati from New Hampshire. We probably spent part of those fourteen and a half hours talking about our plan for 2014, the things we wanted to accomplish, the year we thought we’d have. I’m quite certain we were very far off for most of it.
It has been the year of surprises. Some were things I’d given up on and welcomed with happy tears. Others were a little harder to appreciate.
With the ups and downs (and ups that looked like downs) my favorite part of the year was getting to know Ben, and getting to know the strength of our marriage. I am grateful for that decision we made almost four years ago, and I love relearning what a wonderful decision that was. Marriage this year has been a lot of fun adventures – our first international travel and so many other trips – but it has also been more mutual support than ever before. We’ve never needed to rely on each other like we did in 2014, and through it, I’ve gained a new appreciation for the man I get to call my husband. I won’t pretend to know what 2015 will hold for me, but I find comfort in knowing who will be by my side.
