Olay Whips Moisturizer Review

Today we’re talking all about one of my favorite moisturizers in this review of Olay Whips.

Olay Whips Moisturizer:

Have you updated your beauty products for summer yet? Last month I raved about my all-time favorite moisturizer but as we move into the harsher sun months, I usually switch to a moisturizer with SPF for daily wear.  I’ve been on the hunt for a new one and when I found out my favorite moisturizer has an SPF version, I had to try it out.

Here are three things to consider when picking the right moisturizer for your skin this summer (and why I’ve settled on this particular one):

What to look for in a summer moisturizer

Antioxidants:

Your dry skin is usually the result of the harmful effects of sun exposure and/or other environmental factors. Slowly, over time, this chips away at your skins ability to keep in moisture, losing its resiliency. Antioxidants help shield the surface of the kin from further harm by defending against the effects of sun + environment.

There are lots (dozens and dozens) of great antioxidants that can do this to your skin so look for a moisturizer with at least one of them.

Some great ones to consider:

  • Vitamin C
  • vitamin E
  • green tea extract
  • ferulic acid

Emollients:

These lubricating ingredients help retain water by replenishing and then locking in the moisture to keep your skin hydrated longer.

These usually have a thick texture and include things like plant oils (non-fragrant ones), fatty acids, oils (like coconut or sunflower oil) , and butters (like shea butter and cacao butter).

Sunscreen:

Especially during the time of year when the sun in strongest (summer for us here in the northern hemisphere), use sunscreen daily. The sun can see you even when you can’t see it, so don’t skip just because the forecast is cloudy.

When looking for a sunscreen, find one that is “broad spectrum” and apply daily.

As we move into the stronger sun months, I am sure SPF is in my moisturizing routines. On days we’re spending hours outside, I’ll add in a specific face sunscreen with higher SPF as well.

Olay Whips Total Effects SPF 25 Review

Let’s see how Olay Whips holds up to my three criteria for a great summer moisturizer:

  • OLAY TOTAL EFFECTS WHIP FACE MOISTURIZER SPF 25 has Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Green Tea Extract
  • OLAY TOTAL EFFECTS WHIP FACE MOISTURIZER SPF 25 has camellia sinensis leaf extract, among other hydrating ingredients
  • OLAY TOTAL EFFECTS WHIP FACE MOISTURIZER SPF 25 has a broad spectrum SPF 25 to protect from daily sun exposure

Check, check, and check.

In addition to living up to the three categories of things to look for in a summer sunscreen, Olay Total Effects Whip Face Moisturizer also just feels great.

I have LOVED their non-spf luminance whip moisturizer for a few months now and was hesitant about the sunscreen version because I don’t usually love products with sunscreen in them (I wear them, I just always love the way non-sunscreen versions smell and feel).

The sunscreen in this is subtle and the moisturizer still goes on smooth and absorbs quickly. A little goes a long way here and it is just as hydrating as the non-SPF version.

If you’re looking for a new moisturizer, I can’t recommend the Whip line enough. And don’t just take my word for it – go look at the reviews. On the Olay site there are 132 reviews for this particular moisturizer average 4.65 out of 5 and of the three one star reviews it received, all are people who still recommend the product (but just didn’t realize they had the ability to give it more stars?).
