3 Fall Essentials

A casual plaid, high waisted (dark wash) denim, and a pair of cognac riding boots is my favorite, ‘no fail’ combo for cooler weather. For someone on the shorter side (I’m 5’4″), the high waisted look elongates the leg, even with the high riding boots. I’ve been loving this top from Chadwicks and if you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen it a handful of times over the last few weeks. Basically, tell me I don’t have to iron and I’m happy.

Side Note: I’ve taken a little hiatus from style posts on the blog. It was in part because I didn’t fit into most of my clothes and wasn’t up for buying pieces that I hoped wouldn’t fit in a month or so. Truthfully, it was also because I stopped putting together outfits to wear consistently as fashion plummeted to somewhere near the bottom of my priorities (when keeping a baby alive those early months takes so much out of you, I really could only manage to get my face washed and teeth brushed). But, I’ve also learned that I am far more productive, and generally more positive, when I’ve taken a few minutes to put myself together in the morning. That doesn’t mean it always happens, but when I throw on a pair of jeans and a favorite top instead of hanging out in my sweatpants all day, I’m a better mom, a kinder wife, and a happier human. Or maybe its just because fall fashion is fantastic and I’ll always be a sucker for a good plaid + leather boot combo.

On another side note – I’m heading to T.Swift tonight and have no idea what you even wear to a concert. They’ll be plenty more on snapchat @elisabethmeg (although I might have to have Ben take my phone away before the wisdom teeth drugs kick in later this weekend … T.Swift followed by surgery – an interesting combo).

Happy Thursday!
