Goat Cheese Panini Recipe

I think we’ve found a new Sunday tradition around here and its possibly our tastiest one yet. Now that we’re a real family (to me it always seemed a bit funny calling our marriage a “family” before we had a baby…we were more of a couple than a family – but thats just me), I’m taking this creating traditions business seriously. Growing up we had lots of traditions and I realize that whatever habits Ben and I start now can become our own family traditions that Lincoln grows up with.

We have church from 9:30-12:30 and we always come home starving and a bit low on energy (taming a baby for three hours is a tad exhausting..I can’t even imagine when its more than one..). We would usually grab a bowl of cereal and take a nap before making anything of real substance. When my parents were in town, my mom made grilled cheese paninis and I’ve been craving more ever since. Its a great excuse to break out our panini pan and anything with goat cheese is worth looking forward to. I’ve included our favorite recipe below – but really, with some good turkey and lots of cheese, you can’t go wrong 🙂

What You’ll Need:

  • Hillshire Naturals Slow Roasted Turkey Breast
  • Whole grain bread
  • Pepperjack cheese slices
  • Goat cheese
  • Sliced tomato
  • Spicy brown mustard
  • Butter
What You’ll Do:
  • Butter one side of each piece of bread
  • Layer on your mustard, cheese, tomatoes, and turkey
  • Place on hot panini pan (or regular pan and press down with the clean bottom of another pan).
  • Cook each side on medium for two minutes or until crispy (and the cheese is melted)

*These are pictures from last Sunday and yesterday we made them on whole wheat bagels with Hillshire Honey Roasted Ham with pepperjack and feta cheese. Doing something two weeks in a row makes it a tradition right? My favorite part was that when we got home from church Ben asked, “so should I make paninis?”
**We’ve been buying Hillshire products for a few years now and with their new Naturals I really love that there aren’t any additives or preservatives.

  1. YUM! Panini's are definitely a tradition that I could get on board with! It's also national grilled cheese month, so it's pretty darn perfect!
